Job summary

Harita Techserv in Chennai, India seeks a mechanical engineer to own engine design responsibilities across base engine and subsystems. You will work with product teams to define requirements, create design specs, and review test cases and rules for engine components.

You will engage with Tier-1 suppliers, manage risk and certification milestones, and contribute to homologation processes, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance throughout development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Strong understanding of engine design and development lifecycle
• Experience with technical documentation and design reviews

Responsibilities

• Understand and develop engine components and subsystems.
• Create engine design specifications, test cases, and design rules.
• Coordinate with Tier-1 suppliers and stakeholders.
• Lead issue management and drive countermeasures.
• Ensure homologation and regulatory compliance awareness.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Good understanding of Automotive Engine commodity or subsystem design & development
• Knowledge of Engine product development lifecycles with different development stages
• Ability to understand and create technical documentation, such as Engine design specifications, test cases, design rules.
• Understanding of detail engineering with Tolerance stack up, drawing creation, Integration & Data Releasees etc.
• Own and deliver the Advanced Product Quality Planning & deliverables
• Good knowledge of prototype build & manufacturing process
• Good knowledge of DVP, DFMEA & Quality control parameters of Engine components
• Signs off on critical analyses, Design assessments, and safety critical features.
• Good at Tier-1 supplier interaction & technical negotiation for overall Engine development
• Working with stakeholders to create Statement of requirement (SOR)
• Knowledge of Homologation & Regulations
• Good experience in driving issue management through multi stakeholder environment

Preferred candidate profile

• Parametric modelling and understanding of complex assemblies
• Understanding of Powertrain subsystems like Base Engine, Piston, Air intake, cooling, Exhaust, Manifolds, Powertrain Sensors

etc.

• CAE result translation & participation in countermeasures
• Good English communication skills (Written + Spoken)
• Good at working in collaboration.
• Understanding of Architecture, System Engineering & Validation
• Manages risks, certification strategy, and program milestones.
