Responsibilities

  • Design and develop test jigs and setups for electronic products.
  • Prepare test plans for analog, digital and power circuits.
  • Interface test field devices and sensors; validate systems.
  • Set up in-house test infrastructure for sensors, IoT devices, and gateways.
  • Coordinate hardware documentation, BOMs, and power calculations.

1. Role Purpose

The Electronic Hardware Engineer will be responsible for hardware-level compliance, test setup planning, and complete documentation for RDPMS subsystems — including Sensors, IoT Devices, Station Gateways, Power Interfaces, and Accessories. The role ensures full conformity with RDSO Indian Railway Specifications, IEC, TEC IoT Security, and related standards. The position combines hands‑on product testing and validation with coordination of certification, field installation, and cross‑functional collaboration across R&D, production, and QA teams.

2. Qualification
  • B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
  • B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)
  • Exposure to Railway Signalling / Safety-Critical Systems is highly desirable
  • Diploma candidates with strong and relevant industry experience may also be considered
3. Experience
  • 4 to 8 years of relevant industry experience for B.Tech / B.E. candidates
  • 6 to 10 years of relevant industry experience for Diploma candidates
  • Experience in electronics product testing, PLC programming, and industrial automation installation projects
  • Prior exposure to Railway Signalling, Embedded / Industrial Electronics, or Mission-Critical Systems is preferred
4. Roles & Responsibilities
4.1Product Testing & Validation
  • Design and development of test jigs and test setups for electronic products
  • Preparation of test plans and test cases for analog, digital, and power circuits
  • Interface testing and validation of field devices and sensors
  • Plan and set up in‑house test infrastructure for sensors, IoT devices, station gateways, and accessories
  • Execute and support: Type Tests, Acceptance Tests, Routine Tests, and Endurance / ESS Tests
  • Validate interfaces with power supplies, data loggers, sensors, and communication modules
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, isolation, surge protection, and EMI/EMC requirements
  • Support product certification and validation activities
4.2Hardware Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare and maintain complete hardware documentation including block diagrams, interface diagrams, BOMs, wiring details, and power calculations
  • Develop clause‑by‑clause compliance documents against RDSO / customer specifications
  • Support preparation of Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), test reports, and inspection documents as per Railway formats
  • Maintain document revision control and configuration records
  • Compile and review test reports for submission to inspection authorities
4.3Embedded & IoT Systems
  • Configuration of embedded products for data connectivity
  • Coordination with R&D teams to understand working and installation of FTU, sensors, and station gateways
  • System‑level configuration including network setup and gateway configuration
  • Understanding of IoT hardware and field devices
4.4Railway Field Installation & Coordination
  • Coordination of IoT product installation at railway stations
  • Handling railway‑side documentation and installation requirements
  • Study of railway assets including point machines, track circuits, signaling systems, axle counters, and power supply units
  • Support field trials, installation validation, and commissioning activities when required
5.5Procurement & Deployment
  • BOM preparation and procurement management
  • Prototype installation and railway field testing
4.6Certification & Compliance
  • Coordinate testing activities with Government laboratories and NABL‑accredited testing labs
  • Completion of product certification processes in line with RDSO specifications and relevant IEC/ISO standards
  • Preparation of technical documentation, test reports, and compliance records
4.7Team Coordination
  • Coordination and management of a team of 4 to 10 members
  • Close collaboration with firmware, software, QA, production, and procurement teams
  • Work closely with R&D, field engineers, and cross‑functional teams
  • Support audits, inspections, clarifications, and technical meetings with customers and regulatory bodies
  • Assist in root‑cause analysis of test failures and corrective action implementation
5. Technical Skills & Knowledge
5.1Core Electronics & Embedded Systems
  • Embedded PCB design, microcontrollers, and SoCs
  • Power supply units and protection circuits
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and field device connections
  • Basic programming and debugging of FTU and station gateway devices
5.2PLC & Industrial Automation
  • Basic understanding of PLC systems and industrial automation concepts
  • Familiarity with control panels, I/O modules, and automation workflows
5.3Communication Protocols & Networking
  • RS232, RS485, Ethernet, Optical Interface, GPON
  • MODBUS protocol

5.4Wireless & Communication Technologies
  • BLE, Wi‑Fi, 4G / LTE, Zigbee, LoRa
5.5Railway Systems Knowledge

  • Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO), Function Generator, Multimeter, Power Analyzer, Data Logger

5.8Standards & Certification
