Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer– Signalling to join our dynamic engineering team within the railwaysector. This role is critical to the safe, efficient, and compliantdesign of signalling systems that ensure the seamless operation of railnetworks. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developingtechnical designs for railway signalling infrastructure, ensuring fulladherence to national and international standards, safety regulations,and project-specific requirements. Your work will directly impact trainsafety, operational reliability, and system scalability across key railcorridors. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams,including project managers, systems engineers, and regulatoryauthorities, to deliver high-quality, future-ready signalling solutions.This is a pivotal role for professionals passionate about advancingrail technology through precision engineering and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed technical designs for railway signalling systems, includingtrackside equipment, interlockings, train control systems, andcommunication interfaces.
- Ensure all designs comply withrelevant railway standards (e.g., EN 50128, IEC 61508, CENELEC, andnational railway regulations).
- Utilize AutoCAD and other CAD tools to produce accurate and scalable engineering drawings and schematics.
- Conductdesign reviews and coordinate with internal and external stakeholdersto validate technical feasibility and safety integrity.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of design specifications, revisions, and compliance evidence.
- Collaborate with systems and safety engineers to perform hazard analyses, risk assessments, and safety case development.
- Support project execution by providing technical input during procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Stay current with advancements in railway signalling technologies, including ETCS, CBTC, and digital interlocking systems.
- Participate in design audits, regulatory inspections, and certification processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimumof 4 years of hands-on experience in railway signalling design,preferably within a rail infrastructure or rolling stock environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar CAD platforms).
- Strongunderstanding of railway signalling principles, including interlockinglogic, track circuits, signal aspects, and train detection systems.
- Demonstratedawareness of safety standards and compliance frameworks (e.g.,Functional Safety, SIL ratings, risk assessment methodologies).
- Ability to interpret and apply technical standards such as EN 50128, EN 50129, and national railway safety codes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with multidisciplinary teams and regulatory bodies.
- Willingness to travel to project sites for site surveys, commissioning support, and stakeholder meetings.
