Weekday AI is seeking a Director of Design – Architecture to lead and scale architectural production and multidisciplinary design delivery from Bengaluru. You will drive technical documentation, standards alignment with US practices, and design automation initiatives.

The role focuses on building a high‑performing India design hub with global collaboration. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in architecture, strong leadership of large teams, and deep knowledge of Revit, Autodesk Construction

We are looking for an experiencedDirector of Design – Architectureto lead and scale architectural design capabilities, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary design delivery within a global construction and design environment.

The ideal candidate will combine deep architectural expertise with strong operational leadership and experience managing large-scale design teams. This role focuses on building a technically proficient architecture and engineering organisation capable of delivering high-quality design development, construction documentation, coordinated drawings, specifications, and constructability-driven solutions aligned with US construction standards.

The successful candidate will play a strategic role in transforming architectural production into a comprehensive design capability, establishing technical excellence, standardised workflows, and scalable delivery practices across global teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design, technical documentation, detailing, and constructability practices across the India-based design organisation.


• Establish and governUS-aligned architectural documentation standards, drawing-set structures, detailing protocols, specifications, and QA/QC processes.


• Oversee architectural drawing packages across design development and construction documentation phases.


• Ensure architectural deliverables accurately reflect design intent, constructability requirements, building systems, and interdisciplinary coordination.


• Direct daily architectural production and ensure deliverables meet project schedules, quality expectations, and budget requirements.


• Standardise design workflows to improve coordination with US-based design teams, increase predictability, and reduce rework.


• Implement structured quality-control checkpoints and performance metrics covering accuracy, timeliness, productivity, and first-pass quality.


• Use ERP and project-performance systems to monitor team output, resource utilisation, operational efficiency, and profitability.


• Evaluate and implement digital design tools, documentation automation, andAI-assisted design workflows.


• Collaborate with Design Technology, Digital Delivery, and AI teams to improve model-based documentation and integrated design processes.


• Ensure alignment withRevit standards, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and related digital design platforms.


• Recruit, mentor, and develop architectural and engineering professionals while building strong technical leadership within the organisation.


• Establish training frameworks, competency benchmarks, career progression models, and technical development programmes.


• Build and scale a high-performing architecture and engineering team, with a long-term growth objective of 100+ professionals.


• Act as the primary India-based architectural counterpart to US design leadership, ensuring effective communication and continuity across time zones.


• Partner with project executives, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and maintain delivery standards.


• Drive continuous improvement in design quality, operational efficiency, team performance, and commercial outcomes.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 10+ years of experience in architecture, with strong expertise in technical documentation, architectural detailing, and complex project delivery.


• Bachelor's or Master's degree inArchitecture.


• Proven experience leading large architectural or engineering production teams, preferably with50+ professionals.


• Strong knowledge ofUS construction documentation standards, detailing practices, and coordinated drawing production.


• Deep understanding of building systems, constructability, construction sequencing, and multidisciplinary design coordination.


• Advanced proficiency inRevitand architectural documentation workflows.


• Experience building or scaling design teams, including recruitment, technical training, performance management, and capability development.


• Strong operational and commercial discipline, with experience managing productivity, project schedules, budgets, and delivery quality.


• Experience using ERP or project-management systems to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and performance visibility.


• Familiarity with model-based documentation, structured data integration, digital design environments, and design automation.


• Experience collaborating with international design teams and managing distributed delivery across multiple time zones.


• Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical and operational challenges.
