Job Description
Dialysis Technician is responsible for preparing and operating dialysis equipment and supporting the clinical team in providing safe dialysis treatment to patients with renal conditions. The includes machine preparation, patient preparation, monitoring during dialysis, maintaining vascular access and equipment as trained, managing dialysis supplies, infection prevention, documentation, and coordination with nephrologists and nursing staff while following established dialysis protocols and safety standards.
- Prepare dialysis machines and required equipment before each treatment.
- Check dialysis machines, water systems, alarms, and safety features for proper functioning.
- Prepare dialysate and consumables according to approved protocols.
- Verify patient identity, treatment order, and required documentation.
- Assist in preparing patients for dialysis treatment.
- Monitor vital signs and patient condition during dialysis.
- Operate dialysis equipment according to prescribed treatment settings and authorized instructions.
- Monitor blood flow, dialysate flow, pressures, and machine parameters.
- Assist with vascular access preparation and monitoring within professional scope.
- Observe patients for complications such as hypotension, bleeding, cramps, or adverse reactions.
- Promptly report clinical abnormalities to the nurse or nephrologist.
- Assist with emergency procedures and resuscitation when required.
- Maintain proper infection prevention and aseptic practices.
- Perform cleaning, disinfection, and appropriate maintenance of dialysis equipment.
- Ensure availability of dialysis consumables, solutions, medicines, and emergency supplies.
- Maintain accurate dialysis records, treatment charts, machine logs, and checklists.
- Support water quality monitoring and related documentation as per protocol.
- Coordinate with nephrologists, nurses, biomedical engineering, and other departments.
- Dispose of biomedical waste and contaminated materials according to approved procedures.
- Participate in equipment maintenance, quality audits, training, and dialysis unit improvement activities.
