Job summary

Agratas – A Tata Enterprise is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer for its Gujarat battery facility. You will be the technical authority for process development, scale-up and optimization, leading design, commissioning and ramp‑up of manufacturing equipment to meet customer requirements.

You will work with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver next‑gen process capabilities, drive efficiency, and ensure quality through robust control strategies and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Extensive experience in cell battery manufacturing in the Cell Assembly area.
  • Experience with battery equipment design, development, commissioning and ramp up.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as SME for a manufacturing process area and lead scale-up.
  • Lead design, implementation, commissioning and ramp-up of equipment.
  • Develop processes including design, control strategy and risk mitigation.
  • Create specifications for next-gen process equipment.
  • Collaborate with vendors to deliver processes to target.
  • Conduct analysis to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineers.

Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for ensuring the battery facility has the right production equipment to meet customer requirements, working closely with global cross-functional teams, vendors, customers, and partners. The role involves supporting the implementation of advanced technologies and establishing effective solutions within a new manufacturing environment.

PERSON PROFILE
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • To be the primary subject matter expert for a specific manufacturing process area and be the technical authority in process development, scale up and optimization
  • Lead the process design efforts, implementation, commissioning and ramp-up of manufacturing equipment and capability
  • Develop the manufacturing process, including the design, control strategy and risk mitigation activity for key areas of the end-to-end production process
  • Create machine specifications for next gen process equipment
  • Work closely with equipment vendors and technical partners to ensure the production process is delivered to target.
  • Conduct detailed process analysis and modelling to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and leadership to junior and mid-level engineers while driving strategic process improvements and technical excellence within the team and organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Expertise in ultrasonic and laser welding applications with the ability refine process conditions for next generation cell manufacturing.
  • Experience in implementing high-resolution vision systems, laser profilometers, and other inspection technologies for defect detection and process control in battery manufacturing.
  • Excellent understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental considerations for process design.
  • Excellent understanding of technical cleanliness requirements for Battery manufacturing industry.
  • Experience of delivering new manufacturing capability throughout the maturation lifecycle.
  • Experience of data analysis & excellent manufacturing problem solving skills.
  • Ability to strategically to define future requirements and capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of an organization.
Role Specific Qualifications/Certifications
  • Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Manufacturing).
  • Extensive experience in cell battery manufacturing in the Cell Assembly area as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer.
  • Experience in Battery equipment design, process development, commissioning and ramp up.
