Job summary

OCS Group is seeking a diligent technician to operate and monitor diesel generators, start/stop procedures, and perform regular testing to ensure readiness during outages. The role includes electrical system monitoring, preventive maintenance, and incident response to maintain continuous backup power and safety compliance across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor diesel generators and associated systems.
• Perform routine generator start-up and shutdown procedures.
• Conduct periodic no-load and load bank testing.
• Monitor generator performance parameters (voltage, frequency, load, fuel level, coolant temp, oil pressure).
• Ensure generators are ready for automatic operation during utility failures.
• Monitor ATS and AMF panels.
• Support operation of electrical distribution systems.
• Coordinate with electrical and facility teams during power transitions.
• Respond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly DG set inspections.
• Check fuel, lubrication oil, coolant, battery health, belts, and filters.
• Maintain DG room cleanliness and housekeeping.
• Assist maintenance vendors and engineers during preventive maintenance activities.
• Respond to power outages and equipment failures.
• Troubleshoot minor DG faults and escalate major issues.
• Support incident management during critical facility events.
• Ensure continuous availability of backup power systems.
• Maintain DG operation logbooks.
• Record fuel consumption, running hours, and maintenance activities.
• Prepare shift handover reports.
• Update incident and maintenance records accurately.
• Follow data center safety procedures and permit-to-work requirements.
• Use PPE while operating equipment.
• Adhere to LOTO procedures when required.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, fire, and electrical safety standards.

• Monitor ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) and AMF (Automatic Mains Failure) panels.
• Support operation of electrical distribution systems.
• Coordinate with electrical and facility teams during power transitions.
• Respond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions.

Inspection & Preventive Maintenance

• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of DG sets.
• Check fuel, lubrication oil, coolant, battery health, belts, and filters.
• Maintain DG room cleanliness and housekeeping.
• Assist maintenance vendors and engineers during preventive maintenance activities.

Emergency Response

• Respond immediately to power outages and equipment failures.
• Troubleshoot minor DG faults and elevate major issues.
• Support incident management during critical facility events.
• Ensure continuous availability of backup power systems.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain DG operation logbooks.
• Record fuel consumption, running hours, and maintenance activities.
• Prepare shift handover reports.
• Update incident and maintenance records accurately.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all data center safety procedures and permit-to-work requirements.
• Use appropriate PPE while operating equipment.
• Adhere to Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures when required.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, fire, and electrical safety standards.
