Job description

We are seeking a Tooling Engineer with a strong background in product costing and development. You will review product drawings, determine tooling feasibility, and estimate tool and manufacturing costs.

Roles and Responsibility

Tooling & Design Review

• Analyze 2D and 3D product drawings for manufacturing feasibility.
• Identify design issues that could increase tooling complexity or cost.
• Recommend design modifications to optimize tool life and production.
• Determine required tool types, cavity counts, and cycle times.

Product Costing & Estimation

• Calculate detailed cost estimates for new tools and molds.
• Estimate piece-part costs based on material, labor, and machine rates.
• Maintain a database of tooling and manufacturing cost metrics.
• Evaluate supplier tooling quotes to ensure competitive pricing.

Product Development Support

• Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with engineering teams.
• Support Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives.
• Track tooling budget and cost variations during development phases.
• Guide design teams toward meeting target manufacturing costs.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in CAD software (such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX).
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes (molding, tool manufacturing).
• Strong knowledge of tool construction, component parts, and wear factors.
