Job summary

SHI is seeking a Desktop Support professional in Thane to manage OS installation and configuration on laptops and desktops, handle service-request tickets, and enforce standardization policies across devices.

The role covers software installation (MS Office, client apps), printer/network troubleshooting, antivirus deployment, and coordination with vendors for hardware issues. On-site support and ticket ownership are expected.

Responsibilities

• Installation and Configuration of OS on laptops and desktops.
• Knowledge of ticketing tool (Service Request portal) and its functionality.
• Configure desktops and laptops per standardization policies.
• Install and configure MS Office and troubleshoot common office software.
• Install/configure client software and other business software.
• IMAC submission for allocation/deallocation of devices.
• Diagnose and report hardware issues to vendors.
• Install/troubleshoot/re-install systems, printers, scanners; resolve print queue issues.
• Configure appropriate rights/permissions for printers and print queues.
• Troubleshoot critical network issues for end users; resolve LAN and DHCP issues.
• Configure IP addresses on PCs and add to VLANs as applicable.
• Install/configure email clients and perform user data recovery.
• Install antivirus software and deploy OS patches on desktops/laptops.
• Coordinate with vendors to close hardware issues; take ownership of tickets.

Role & responsibilities

Desktop L1- Roles and Responsibilities :

• Installation and Configuration of OS on laptops & Desktops..
• Ticketing tool (Service Request portal) knowledge and its functionality.
• Configure desktop and laptop as per the desktop/laptop standardization policies
• Installation and Configuration of MS office Troubleshooting issues related to standard office softwares (MS Office Word, xls, PowerPoint etc.).
• Installation / re-installation / configuration of in-scope client software / applications and Other applicable business Softwares.
• IMAC submission for allocation and deallocation of devices
• Isolate system issues; diagnose standard software issues and report hardware issues to respective Vendors.
• Installation/Troubleshooting/re-installation/configuration of systems, printers, scanners. Troubleshoot print queue related issues.
• Configure appropriate rights and permissions for accessing printers.
• Configure Print Queues for Servers / Users / Groups.
• Troubleshooting of critical network issues for end users.
• Support for local area network issues (LAN), DHCP client.
• Configuration of IP addresses in PCs and adding the same to VLANs (As applicable).
• Installation / configuration of e-mail clients.
• Performing user data recovery as applicable.
• Installation and Configuration of Anti-Virus Software.
• Install approved OS patches onto desktops / laptops.
• Remove virus from respective desktop / laptop with the antivirus software.
• Troubleshooting of critical Desktops & Laptop hardware problems.
• Raising tickets with coordination with vendor for hardware related issues and follow up until closure.
• Pick up the assigned service request & tickets and work until closure
