Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Chennai is seeking an Engineer – Power Train Design to contribute to global vehicle development. You will design, verify and validate CAD designs for PMT4 components (fuel, cooling, engine, transmission, driveline and ePowerunits) using tools like Catia V5, 3DX, WERS and e-Stack, and ensure releases in Ford's databases.

You will lead change notices, perform KPAC assessments in E2KS/3DX, collaborate with D&R and Vehicle Architecture teams, and uphold Ford’s quality standards

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in automotive product development and Change Notices based design.
• Experience performing KPAC assessments in E2KS/3DX and P-Release in a Ford environment.
• Proficient in CAD/PLM and data management tools.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

As an Engineer – Power Train Design, you will be a key contributor to our Global team in Chennai, reporting to the CAD Manager LL6. This role is critical to the product development cycle, specifically supporting Vehicle Design Gateways. You will be responsible for Designing, Verifying and Validating CAD Designs for PMT4 components (including but not limited to Fuel, Cooling, Engine, Transmission, Driveline and ePowerunits) using a suite of specialized tools including WERS, CATIA, Vismockup, E2KS, PADB, FordDoc, e-Stack tool and 3DX. You will be responsible for Change Notice based design, Verification and Validation: from analysing FEDE/E2KS/C3PNG, then release parts in FORD database. Additionally, you will oversee the compatibility of drawings, ensuring all deliverables meet Ford’s global standards and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Design change modifications of Vehicle underbody/Powertrain components for global and region-specific programs.
• BOM Validation: Utilize FEDE, BCIS and WERS B-Screen to understand design complexity before performing Design change.
• Markup Creation : Identify issues based on requirements in CATIA/ Vismockup, create markup of issues identified for issue resolution.
• PLM Integration: Ensure release of 3D parts are done in Team Centre and Drawing in Ford Doc.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate with D&R Engineers / Vehicle Architecture teams to Understand Design Change contents, resolve DPA1 issues, support release of owned components.
• Quality Control: Ensure every part getting released must meet Design and FECDS requirements along with internal QC check list.
• Innovation: Actively participate in efficiency initiatives, such as transitioning to new visualization tools or automating workflows.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Automobile/Production) or related disciplines.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Automotive Product Development and Change Notices based Design, and DPA1 assessments.
• Proven experience of performing KPAC assessments in E2KS/3DX and P-Release for components within a Ford environment is highly preferred.

Functional/Technical Skills:

• Software Proficiency: Auros (E2KS).
• CAD/Visualization: Catia V5, and Vis-Mockup and 3DX ready.
• Data Management: Good Knowledge of WERS & Teamcenter, understanding ofControl Models based on BOM complexity.
• Vehicle Architecture: Good knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems, sub-systems.
• Requirements Understandings: Awareness of PMT4 component requirement standards and understanding of DPA1 requirements.
• Quality Tools: Knowledge of FMEAs and engineering quality standards.
