Job Description

The Design Engineer - Fire Protection System (FPS) & Fire Alarm (FA) System is responsible for the end-to-end design and engineering delivery of Fire Protection, Fire Detection, and Fire Alarm systems for Data Center projects. The role involves design development, detailed engineering, technical coordination, and support during installation, testing, and commissioning to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver complete Fire Protection, Detection, and Alarm system designs for Data Center facilities.
• Prepare detailed engineering deliverables including:
  • Design calculations
  • Layout drawings
  • Shop drawings
  • Schematics
  • Specifications
  • Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
  • Technical documents for tender and execution phases
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure seamless integration of FPS and FA systems within the overall facility design.
• Support project execution teams and vendors during installation, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
• Review vendor submissions, technical documents, and shop drawings for design compliance.
• Conduct design validations and provide technical solutions to resolve site-related engineering issues.

Technical Expertise

• Strong experience in Data Center building projects.

• Capable of preparing hydraulic calculations for fire protection systems.
• Proficient in reviewing and validating fire system calculations, equipment sizing, and network layouts.

Regulatory & Compliance Requirements

• Ensure all designs comply with applicable fire and life safety codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
• Knowledge of Fire NOC (No Objection Certificate) requirements across various Indian states.
• Support regulatory approvals and coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) for design compliance and approvals.

Coordination & Project Support

• Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance during project execution and commissioning phases.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability reviews.
• Ensure documentation is maintained and updated throughout the project lifecycle.
