Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks an experienced Fire Protection & Suppression Design Engineer in Bengaluru. You will design fire protection systems per account standards and coordinate with OEMs/subcontractors to secure optimal solutions. The role requires 3–6 years of domain experience and strong proposal skills.

Knowledge of NFPA/NBC norms and experience with cost sheets is valued. A quick learner who communicates well and works within a team is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• ME/BE/Diploma (Mechanical / Electrical) required.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in Fire Protection & Suppression.
• Strong knowledge of Fire Protection & Suppression Systems.
• Knowledge in Building Management System is a plus.
• Presales and estimation experience on India projects (transportation, data center, commercial, etc.).
• Capable of hydrant and flow calculations and product selections.
• Ability to work with complex costing sheets (material, engineering, operations, subcontract).
• Clear, structured technical proposal documentation experience.
• Strong vendor network in India.
• Fast learner with strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Good team player.

What you will do

This position is responsible to design Fire protection & Suppression per respective account standards.

How you will do it

• Identify potential issues/risks and proactively bring them to the customer's knowledge and help to mitigate the identified risks.
• Initiate the discussion with OEMs & subcontractors and get the right solution and proposal from OEMs.
• Align with Organization KPIs such as Quality, Cycle Time, OTD, Win rate, Productivity, etc.
• Adherence with all processes and guidelines to execute project within timeline

What we look for

• ME/BE/Diploma (Mechanical / Electrical)
• Must have 3-6 years of relevant experience in Fire Protection & Suppression Systems domains.
• Strong knowledge of Fire Protection & Suppression Systems (Fire Sprinkler, Pre-action system, Water spray, standpipe & hose system, Hydrant network, Fire water storage, Stationary pumps, Foam suppression, water mist system, Kitchen hood system, Gas Suppression – FM, Novec, Inergen & Co2 etc.).
• Knowledge in Building Management System will be added advantage for the role.
• Must have India projects' presales and estimation experience on various verticals (Transportation, Data Center, Commercial, Fit-outs, Industries, Data Centers, etc.).
• Capable of perform hydrant and flow calculation and doing product selections along with the deviation/compliance statements.
• Must be able to work on complex costing sheets covering Material, Engineering, Operations, and Subcon costs.
• Skill in articulating offered solutions in a structured way through high-standard technical proposal documents.
• Must have a strong network with the 3rd party vendors in India.
• Must be a quick learner & keen on problem-solving techniques.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Must be a good team player.

Preferred

• Experienced in designing Fire Protection & Suppression systems (fire hydrant, sprinkler, HVWS, MVWS, Foam, Water Mist, Gas Suppression) per NFPA, TAC, and NBC norms.
• Proficient in hydraulic and flow calculations using SprinkCAD, Fire-CAD, ANSUL, and HYGOOD.
• Preparing the bill of quantity (BOQ) & material track sheet as per approved / shop drawings and material technical data sheet.
• Coordination with consultants / clients for contractual clarifications and to get the approval of design.
• Knowledge of ACAD, Visio, and Excel.
