Job summary

Claas Agricultural Machinery in India (Mohali) seeks a ST TERRA TRAC Design Engineer/Expert for TERRA TRAC crawler systems. You will develop components, assemblies, and subassemblies, leveraging CATIA 3D Experience and SAP, while coordinating with product units, purchasing, IE and QA, and traveling to Germany as required.

You will design cast housings, weldments, shafts, and flanges, optimize for manufacturability and cost, and create BOMs and 3D drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, automotive, agricultural engineering or comparable field.
• Experience in development and design of machinery components, track systems, and drivetrains.
• Experience with 3D CAD, drawings, and BOM creation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design components for track systems and subassemblies based on specifications and existing designs.
• Autonomously design parts like cast housings, weldments, shafts, bushings, and flanges with cost and timing considerations.
• Assess design concepts for function, space, weight, manufacturability, and cost.
• Create and update 3D CAD models (CATIA V6), assemblies, 2D drawings and eBOMs.
• Perform kinematic clash analysis for multi-body systems.
• Manage change processes for part/assembly releases.
• Release standard parts and coordinate with standards dept and suppliers.
• Engage with CLAAS departments and external suppliers for technical discussions.
• Create BOMs for validation and start sourcing in SAP (CMC creation).
• Support test bench design and data analysis from bench/field tests.

ST TERRA TRAC Design Engineer/Expert TERRA TRAC crawler systems

Key Responsibilities

• Development and design of components for track systems (including subassemblies) based on technical specifications and existing designs in close cooperation with the system engineer and associated designers. Considering reuse of parts for minimum complexity and an optimized modular kit.
• Autonomous development and design of parts and assemblies like cast housings, weldments, shafts, bushing systems and connection flanges considering optimal manufacturing processes, reusing parts and respecting the target costs and timeframe.
• Support the evaluation and comparison of design concepts with regard to function, installation space, weight, manufacturability and cost.
• Create and update 3D CAD models (CATIA V6), assemblies, technical 2D drawings and bills of materials (eBOM).
• Perform kinematic clash analysis to ensure function of a multi-body system.
• Initiate and support change management process for release of parts and assemblies.
• Release of standard parts and coordination of the related steps with the standards department and suppliers.
• Technical discussion concerning the designed parts & assemblies with other CLAAS departments (Product Unit, Purchasing, IE, Quality) and external suppliers
• Creation of BOMs for validation and early sample stages and starting the sourcing process in SAP by creating CMCs
• Support the design of test bench runs by creating 3D concepts in close cooperation with validation and system engineer
• Support different kinds of data analysis out of bench- and field-testing

Qualification and requirements

• Bachelors or master's Degree, qualification in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, agricultural engineering or a comparable field.
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience in the development and design of agricultural or construction machinery and its components out of castings, weldments, as well as drivetrain and rubber components.
• First experience in the design of track systems and chassis components, exposed to rough environmental conditions.
• Knowledge about the application of agricultural machinery.
• Reading & creating technical drawings and being proficient in relevant CAD software (e.g., CATIA 3D Experience, SAP & MS Office) are second nature to you.
• Good teamwork and communication skills in English (and / or German).
• You are available for regular travel to Germany.
