Job summary

TVS Motor in Bengaluru is seeking a design engineer to conceptualize and develop motorcycle chassis and structural components that meet performance, safety, manufacturability and aesthetics requirements.

You will create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings (Creo) for frames and substructures, select materials, apply GD&T, and collaborate with powertrain, electrical, prototyping and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration.

Qualifications

• Experience in motorcycle chassis design.
• Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturingDriven design.

Responsibilities

• Understand and calculate loads on chassis and structural parts.
• Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for frames, subframes, swingarms and related structures.
• Apply DFM, DFA, DFSS and GD&T principles.
• Select materials based on strength, weight, cost and durability.
• Apply knowledge of chassis systems including suspension and brakes.
• Perform basic structural analyses and simulations to validate design.
• Collaborate with powertrain, electrical, prototyping, costing, assembly and manufacturing teams for integration.
• Maintain design-process, decision and specification documentation.
• Use Creo to create and release robust designs.
• Support design reviews and closure of technical issues through structured problem solving.

Purpose of the Role :

Key Responsibilities

• " - Understand and calculate loads acting on chassis and structural parts.
• - Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings for frames, subframes, swingarms and related structural components.
• - Apply Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, Design for Serviceability and GD&T principles.
• - Select materials based on strength, weight, cost and durability requirements.
• - Apply working knowledge of chassis systems, including suspension and brakes, with deeper understanding of calipers, discs, master cylinders and combi-brake systems.
• - Perform basic structural analyses and simulations to validate design performance.
• - Collaborate with powertrain, electrical, prototyping, costing, assembly and manufacturing teams to ensure component integration.
• - Maintain comprehensive design-process, decision and specification documentation.
• - Use CAD tools, preferably Creo, to create and release robust designs.
• - Support design reviews and closure of technical issues through structured problem solving."

• "Internal - Chassis CoC, powertrain, electrical, prototyping, costing, assembly, manufacturing and other engineering teams.
• External - Suppliers and technology partners supporting structural-component design and manufacturing, as applicable."

Financial Authority

• " - Prepare and release component design documents and drawings within the applicable engineering approval workflow.
• - Recommend design, material and manufacturing solutions based on analysis and technical requirements.
• - The source JD lists process direction, document release and budget approvals; these should be validated for applicability to this role before final approval."
