Job summary

RGBSI is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Kolkata to develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks. You will manage product data and revisions with PDM tools, support ECO/ECR/ECN processes, and perform engineering calculations to ensure design integrity.

The role involves designing sheet metal, fabrication, casting, machining, and welded structures, collaborating with manufacturing, sourcing, and electrical teams to ensure manufacturability and robust

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in sheet metal, casting, and machining.
• Strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks for part modelling and drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering standards (ISO/ASME).
• Experience with PDM systems and BOM management.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.
• Manage product data and revisions using PDM tools.
• Perform ECO/ECR/ECN processes and maintenance of BOMs.
• Carry out engineering calculations to validate design integrity.
• Apply GD&T for precise dimensioning and tolerancing.

Job description

Mandatory Skills

1. Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor & SolidWorks (Part modelling, sheet metal, Assemblies, Drawings).
2. Experience working with any PDM system (SolidWorks PDM, Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.).
3. Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes.
4. Experience in selecting standard parts like Motors, bearings, seals, valves etc.
5. Experience in applying DFX principles & DFMEA.
6. Experience in material selection, heat treatment and coating technologies.
7. Hands-on experience in:

• Sheet metal design
• Fabrication design
• Welded structures
• Machined components
• Casting design

1. Good knowledge of Welding symbols, GD&Tand standards (ISO/ASME).
2. Strong engineering calculation skills (stress, tolerance stack-up, fits, etc.).
3. Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
4. Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
