Job summary

RGBSI is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with 4–6 years of experience to develop 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks. The role includes managing data with PDM tools, ECO/ECR/ECN processes, and performing engineering calculations to ensure design integrity.

You will design sheet metal, fabrication, casting, machining, and welded structures, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and maintain BOMs and technical reports.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drawings.
  • Experience with PDM systems and document control.
  • Strong GD&T, ISO/ASME standards knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.
  • Manage product data and revision control using PDM tools.
  • Day-to-day sustenance work (ECO/ECR/ECN).
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate design.
  • Apply GD&T for precision dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Design components for sheet metal, fabrication, casting, machining, and welded structures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability.
  • Prepare and maintain BOMs, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Support prototype development, product testing, and design improvements.
  • Troubleshoot design issues and propose solutions based on engineering principles.
  • Optional Skills: Basic FEA, Machine design, Plastic parts design/Moulding, Hydraulics & Pneumatics.

Job description

Mandatory Skills
  1. Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor & SolidWorks (Part modelling, sheet metal, Assemblies, Drawings).
  2. Experience working with any PDM system (SolidWorks PDM, Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.).
  3. Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  4. Experience in selecting standard parts like Motors, bearings, seals, valves etc.
  5. Experience in applying DFX principles & DFMEA.
  6. Experience in material selection, heat treatment and coating technologies.
  7. Hands-on experience in:
  • Sheet metal design
  • Fabrication design
  • Welded structures
  • Machined components
  • Casting design
  1. Good knowledge of Welding symbols, GD&Tand standards (ISO/ASME).
  2. Strong engineering calculation skills (stress, tolerance stack-up, fits, etc.).
  3. Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  4. Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  8. Prepare and maintain BOMs, design documentation, and technical reports.
  9. Support prototype development, product testing, and design improvements.
