Job summary

RGBSI seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks. You will manage product data with PDM tools, handle ECO/ECR/ECN workflows, and perform rigorous engineering calculations to ensure structural and functional integrity across sheet metal, fabrication, casting, machining, and welded components.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, documented with BOMs, and ready for prototype testing

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drawings using CAD tools.
  • Experience with PDM/PLM systems for data management and revision control.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience selecting standard parts (motors, bearings, seals, valves).
  • Knowledge of DFx and DFMEA principles.
  • Experience with material selection, heat treatment, and coating technologies.
  • Hands-on design experience in sheet metal, fabrication, welded structures, machined components, and casting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.
  • Manage product data and revision control using PDM tools.
  • Handle ECO/ECR/ECN and day-to-day sustenance work.
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate design integrity, strength, and performance.
  • Apply GD&T principles for precise dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Design components and assemblies for sheet metal, fabrication, casting, machining, and welded structures.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, and electrical teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Prepare and maintain BOMs, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Support prototype development, product testing, and design improvements.

Job description

Mandatory Skills
  1. Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor & SolidWorks (Part modelling, sheet metal, Assemblies, Drawings).
  2. Experience working with any PDM system (SolidWorks PDM, Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.).
  3. Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  4. Experience in selecting standard parts like Motors, bearings, seals, valves etc.
  5. Experience in applying DFX principles & DFMEA.
  6. Experience in material selection, heat treatment and coating technologies.
  7. Hands-on experience in:
  • Sheet metal design
  • Fabrication design
  • Welded structures
  • Machined components
  • Casting design
  1. Good knowledge of Welding symbols, GD&Tand standards (ISO/ASME).
  2. Strong engineering calculation skills (stress, tolerance stack-up, fits, etc.).
  3. Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  4. Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
