Job summary

VSL Ventures seeks a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to deliver comprehensive solar PV project designs in India. You will perform PVsyst simulations, create SLDs and layouts, size DC/AC systems and prepare BOQ/technical specs for electrical components across rooftop, ground-mounted and C&I projects.

The role requires hands-on PV design expertise, strong knowledge of AutoCAD, and a solid understanding of IS/IEC standards.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Solar PV system design and electrical engineering.
• Hands-on expertise in PVsyst and energy yield assessment.
• Knowledge of DC & AC electrical design for solar projects.
• Good understanding of inverters, transformers, HT/LT systems, cables, earthing and lightning protection.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD for electrical drawings.
• Understanding of SLD, cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit calculations and equipment sizing.
• Knowledge of solar module technologies, string configurations and inverter loading.
• Familiarity with ground-mounted, rooftop and C&I solar projects will be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical designs and engineering drawings for solar PV projects.

• Design DC and AC systems, including string configuration, cable sizing, inverter selection and equipment sizing.
• Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, cable schedules and equipment layouts.
• Develop string layouts, DC/AC layouts and module layouts based on project requirements.
• Conduct shadow analysis, loss analysis and energy generation calculations using PVsyst.
• Prepare BOQ/BOM and technical specifications for electrical components.
• Coordinate with project, procurement, execution and engineering teams for design finalization.
• Review technical drawings, datasheets and vendor documents for compliance with project specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable IS/IEC standards, CEA requirements and client specifications.
• Support preparation of technical documentation required for DISCOM/CEIG approvals, wherever applicable.
• Identify design issues and provide appropriate technical solutions during project execution.
• Assist in evaluating site data, irradiation data and project-specific technical requirements.
