Job summary

Sterling And Wilson Renewable Energy is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for Solar PV projects. You will design, review, and optimize electrical systems for utility-scale, commercial, and industrial solar plants, with hands-on PVsyst and Qualent experience.

The role requires strong knowledge of SLDs, HT/LT design, and protection systems, along with coordination across EPC and project teams. Open location and full‑time employment offered in a growing renewable energy group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or diploma in Electrical Engineering with relevant Solar PV design exposure.
• Experience with PVsyst for energy yield analysis.
• Knowledge of solar design software such as Qualent.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design calculations.
• Understanding of IEC, IS, NEC and utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical designs for Solar PV projects including SLDs and HT/LT system design.
• Carry out cable sizing calculations and plan earthing/lighting protection layouts.
• Perform energy yield analysis using PVsyst.
• Develop plant layouts and equipment sizing for solar power plants.
• Design inverter, transformer, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Prepare BOQ, technical specifications, and engineering documents.
• Coordinate with EPC, procurement and project execution teams.
• Review vendor drawings for project compliance and standards.
• Support design optimization for cost reduction and performance.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in Solar PV projects. The candidate will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and optimizing electrical systems for utility-scale, commercial, and industrial solar power projects. Hands‑on experience with PVsyst and Qualent (or equivalent solar design software) is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical designs for Solar PV projects, including:
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
  • HT/LT system design
  • Cable sizing calculations
  • Earthing and lightning protection design
  • AC/DC cable routing and voltage drop calculations
• Perform energy yield analysis using PVsyst.
• Develop plant layouts and equipment sizing for solar power plants.
• Design inverter, transformer, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Prepare BOQ, technical specifications, and engineering documents.
• Coordinate with EPC, procurement, and project execution teams.
• Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, IS, NEC, and relevant utility standards.
• Support technical discussions with clients, consultants, and authorities.
• Conduct design optimization for cost reduction and performance improvement.

Required Skills

Qualification

Preferred Experience

• Experience in Utility Scale, C&I, or Rooftop Solar Projects.
• Exposure to projects ranging from 1 MW to 500 MW+.
• Experience in EPC or renewable energy companies preferred.
