Role Purpose
The Deputy Manager Procurement will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement operations across assigned categories, ensuring timely availability of materials, cost competitiveness, supplier reliability, and operational efficiency. The role will go beyond transactional buying to drive value through cost savings, supplier development, market intelligence, and continuous improvement.
Role & responsibilities
- Category Management & Procurement Execution: Manage assigned categories and execute the complete procurement cycle from PR, RFQ and supplier evaluation through negotiation, PO placement, delivery and payment. Ensure timely fulfilment of business requirements.
- Supplier Management & Stakeholder Coordination: Develop and manage supplier relationships, monitor supplier performance, and work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance and other stakeholders to ensure supply continuity. Demonstrate strong influencing and collaboration skills.
- Cost Optimization & Negotiation: Lead commercial negotiations, benchmarking and cost-saving initiatives to improve procurement competitiveness. Identify opportunities for value engineering, alternate sourcing and supplier consolidation.
- Materials & Market Intelligence: Develop understanding of key raw materials such as polymers, packaging materials, metals and other relevant categories. Track market trends, commodity price movements, supply dynamics and external factors impacting procurement costs.
- Procurement Governance & Documentation: Maintain accurate procurement documentation including contracts, POs, approvals, quotations and supplier records. Ensure compliance with procurement policies and processes using SAP and Excel.
- Problem Solving & Execution: Manage supply disruptions, urgent requirements and operational challenges with agility and quick decision-making. Demonstrate strong follow-up, execution discipline and ability to work effectively under pressure.
