Job summary

Shapoorji Pallonji Group in Mumbai seeks a Deputy Manager - MEP (Mechanical) to lead quantity and cost estimation for MEPF works, validate BOQs before tendering, and perform rate analysis to minimize cost variation. The role involves reviewing layouts, preparing detailed tender documents, and ensuring alignment with budgets and approvals.

Responsibilities include coordinating with consultants and site teams, mentoring MEP personnel, and supporting statutory approvals across projects.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with real estate or construction sector.
• Electrical or Mechanical graduate/ Diploma.
• 10-15 years of experience in MEPF design and Estimation.
• Very good knowledge in Auto CAD.
• Proven innovation skills in past jobs.
• Knowledge of IS & International CODE for building industries
• Knowledge of statutory and local authority Norms for Building Construction

Responsibilities

• Review utilities plan layout and prepare preliminary cost estimates after value engineering, coordinating with design/consultant for approvals.
• Formulate tender documents including Detailed Designs, BOQ, Technical Specifications, Final Estimate, and contract conditions with consultant and site team.
• Conduct knowledge sharing programs at site with MEP team and monitor improvements.
• Train contractors staff and workmen at sites.
• Ensure correctness of Bill of Quantity for MEP tender and provide justification for any variation.
• Ensure estimates align with budget and support timely contract awards and mobilization.
• Provide technical support for MEP approvals in all projects.
• Develop working relationships with internal and external customers.

Job Description - Deputy Manager - MEP (Mechanical)

Job location: Mumbai

Key purpose of the job: Quantity and cost Estimation For MEPF Work. Validation of Bill Of Quantity given by consultant before floating of tender to avoid any major cost variation in future. Estimation of the BOQ with the rate analysis.

Key Accountabilities

• Review of utilities plan layout given by MEP consultant based upon Design Basis report and work out the preliminary cost estimates for Management approval after carrying out value engineering, studying, preparing as well as suggesting alternative design schemes highlighting merits and demerits, considering the project requirements.

• Upon receipt of Budgetary approval from Management start formulation of a set of tender documents consisting of Detailed Designs and Working/Execution Drawings, Bills of Quantity, Detailed Technical Specifications, Final Estimate, General Contract condition, Special Contract Condition and Quality plans & Manuals in close coordination with the consultant and site team.

Strategic

• Conduct Effective Knowledge shearing program at site with MEP team and the monitoring of improvements.
• Ensuring training of contractors staff and workmen working at sites
• Giving feedback for improving working processes.

Operational

• Analysis of the basic requirements in various Projects like Electrical work including Sub-station, Internal and external lighting (HV & LV Side)Selection of Transformers, DG Sets & other Capital equipments & Goods , HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Internal and External Water Supply, Soil, Waste & Rain/Storm water, Landscape irrigation, Fire Fighting including Hydraulic calculations for Fire Fighting System ( Sprinkler & Hydrant ) , Rain Water Harvesting, Sewage Treatment Plant, Solid Waste Management System, BMS system CCTV, PA System, Automated parking, Battery Backup, Solar system etc. to be Provided in the project.
• Responsible for Correctness of Bill of quantity MEP Tender and produce proper justification for any variation during project execution. Responsible to ensure the shop drawings are of desired quality
• Responsible for ensuring the Estimate and should ne align with the budget.
• Timely awarding of contract and mobilization of contractor on site.
• All technical support for managing MEP related approval in all projects

Developmental

• Developing, guiding and mentoring Site MEP team
• Developing working relationship with Internal and External Customers

MEP approvals - Electrical/ Power approvals

• Feasibility report of power connection and power supply connection
• Electrical Substation (ESS) approval
• N.O.C for D.G. Operation
• Approval for Inspection of Installation of DG sets
• Inspection certificate for transformer
• Approval for Inspection of Installation of DG sets
• Meter transfer for Individual units & common area unit after completion

MEP approvals of Water

• Water sanctions from Local authorities, MJP, Irrigation departments etc depends on source location
• Water treatment plant clearances
• N.O.C for Rain Water Harvesting from Central Ground Water Authority

MEP approvals of Drainage

• Drainage connection approval
• Approval for Storm water + solid waste disposal
• Sewage Treatment Plant - Consent to establish or operate from MPCB

Internal & External Interactions

Internal: Internal departments including Design, Budgeting and Costing, Procurement and Contacts, Project Heads, MEP engineers at all sites

External: Vendors, suppliers and contractors, consultants, government approving authorities, Research institutes, Educational institutes, Technology provider and vendors,

Education & Experience Requirement:
