Job description

Reports to: Assistant Vice President - Campaigns and Communications

Job Overview

United Way Mumbai runs the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) — India's biggest charity sporting event, raising Rs 72+ crores annually for nearly 300 NGOs — alongside a growing portfolio of other campaigns, corporate partnerships, and fundraising initiatives.

This is a newly created role working directly with the Associate Vice President – Campaigns & Communications across the full breadth of the Campaigns function. The person will support the existing TMM team on planning and execution, while also owning new and non-TMM campaigns, partnerships, and strategic projects as the portfolio grows.

This role is best suited to someone looking to build broad, senior-level exposure across fundraising strategy, event operations, partnerships, and team leadership.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the AVP across the Campaigns function — strategy, planning, and cross-team coordination.
  • Support TMM planning and execution alongside the existing team, with the ability to step in on any part of the fund cycle (raising, receiving, accounting, reconciling, disbursing, reporting) when needed.
  • Own new campaigns, partnerships, and initiatives outside TMM end-to-end — from concept to execution.
  • Build and manage relationships with NGOs, corporates, vendors, and partners across whichever campaigns fall under your ownership.
  • Identify inefficiencies in processes and CRM/data workflows across the Campaigns function and drive improvements.
  • Represent Campaigns in cross-functional planning with Comms, NGO Relations, and Tech.
  • Use AI productivity tools (Salesforce, Claude, Canva AI, etc.) to improve team efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Bring structured recommendations to the AVP on campaign strategy, team capacity, and stakeholder management.
Profile Requisites
  • 5–6+ years of experience, with demonstrable ownership of large, complex events, campaigns, or fundraising operations end-to-end.
  • Strategic thinker who can operate with minimal direction and constructively challenge existing plans.
  • Comfortable working across multiple, sometimes ambiguous, priorities rather than one fixed portfolio.
  • Strong stakeholder management — comfortable being a relationship owner for NGOs, corporates, and vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; sound judgment handling high-visibility, high-stakes relationships.
  • Comfortable with MS Office, Salesforce CRM (or equivalent), and adopting new AI/productivity tools.
  • Understanding of the non-profit sector is desirable; sensitivity to the sector is essential.
