Job summary

Jeyachandran Textiles in Palani, Tamil Nadu, seeks a Store Department Head to manage the Fashion & Lifestyle department (mens, womens and kids’ apparel, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, home decor and lifestyle products). Qualifications

• Graduate in any discipline. Degree/diploma in Retail Management, Fashion or Business Administration is an added advantage.
• 3–7 years of experience in textile, apparel or lifestyle retail.
• Fluency in Tamil is a must; working knowledge of English and Malayalam is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of Fashion & Lifestyle department (mens, womens and kids. apparel, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, home decor).
• Achieve monthly and annual sales targets for the department and drive category growth.
• Plan and execute visual merchandising and product displays per company standards and seasonal themes.
• Monitor stock levels; coordinate with purchase and merchandising teams on fast and slow movers.
• Ensure inventory control; conduct stock audits; minimise shrinkage and aged stock.
• Analyse sales reports to optimize product mix for the Palani market.
• Plan promotions and in-store offers during festivals and peak seasons.
• Lead, train and motivate the floor sales team; manage rosters and performance.
• Deliver excellent customer service; handle escalations and build repeat customers.
• Ensure pricing, tagging, billing coordination and cash/ return policy compliance.
• Maintain store hygiene, safety and SOP compliance.
• Report department performance to Store Manager.

Job description

Role & responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Fashion & Lifestyle department (mens, womens and kids’ apparel, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, home dcor and lifestyle products)
• Achieve monthly and annual sales targets for the department and drive category growth
• Plan and execute visual merchandising and product displays in line with company standards and seasonal and festival themes
• Monitor stock levels, place replenishment indents, and coordinate with the purchase and merchandising teams on fast and slow movers
• Ensure accurate inventory control, conduct regular stock audits, and minimise shrinkage, damage and aged stock
• Analyse sales reports and customer trends to recommend the right product mix for the Palani market
• Plan and run promotions, festival sales (Pongal, Deepavali, Thai Poosam, wedding season) and in-store offers
• Lead, train and motivate the floor sales team; prepare duty rosters and monitor staff performance and grooming
• Deliver excellent customer service, handle escalations and complaints, and build repeat customers
• Ensure proper pricing, tagging, billing coordination and cash/return policy compliance
• Maintain store hygiene, safety and SOP compliance in the department
• Report department performance (sales, margins, stock, staff) to the Store Manager regularly

Preferred candidate profile:

• Graduate in any discipline; a degree or diploma in Retail Management, Fashion or Business Administration is an added advantage
• 3–7 years of experience in textile, apparel or lifestyle retail industry
• Strong knowledge of fashion trends, fabrics, ethnic and western wear, and local customer preferences
• Good understanding of inventory management, visual merchandising and retail KPIs
• Basic computer skills (MS Excel, billing/ERP software)
• Fluency in Tamil is a must; working knowledge of English and Malayalam is preferred
• Candidates from Palani, Dindigul, Oddanchatram, Pollachi or nearby locations preferred
• Willing to work in retail shifts, weekends and festival seasons
• Good communication, leadership and customer-handling skills
