Job summary

SHL is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead and optimize mission-critical database systems across production and non-production environments. You will collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, and Platform teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security while driving data reliability and disaster recovery strategies.

The role requires hands-on experience with SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis/Aerospike, and Elasticsearch, plus familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and MongoDB.
• Exposure to PostgreSQL, Redis/Aerospike or Elasticsearch.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain database systems across production and non-production environments.
• Administer and optimize databases including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform performance tuning and query optimization.
• Design and maintain high availability, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Oversee database backups, restores, and data recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on database schema design, indexing strategies, and query performance improvements.
• Implement and maintain database security policies, access controls, and compliance requirements.
• Automate routine database tasks and operational processes using scripting and automation tools.
• Participate in incident feedback, troubleshooting, and root cause evaluation related to database systems
• Hands-on experience with Linux and/or Windows server environments.
• Strong scripting using PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
• Experience with database monitoring, capacity planning, and performance analysis tools.
