Job summary

Skyhigh Security is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to drive database design and cloud-based data processing. You will collaborate with engineering in a DevOps-driven culture to run data pipelines, optimize queries, and ensure scalable, secure data management across a modern cloud stack.

The role emphasizes building robust data ingress and distribution, implementing monitoring, and aligning with the organization’s “you build it, you run it” philosophy.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of industry experience.
• Databases: RDS, PostgreSQL, MSSQL Server management.
• Scripting: Perl, Python, Bash.
• IaC: CloudFormation, Terraform, Helm.
• Containers: Docker, Kubernetes.
• GitOps/CI: ArgoCD, Argo Workflows, Git Actions.
• Cloud: AWS.
• OS & Tooling: Linux, Jira, GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data processing in a big data environment.
• Database design and management in a cloud environment.
• Build and sustain the pipeline of data ingress, processing and data distribution.
• Identify the most efficient technology approach to implement business logic.
• Collaborate with DevOps to align with technology strategy and concepts.
• Engage with vendors and external partners for coordination.
• Implement monitoring and alerting to meet customer SLAs.
• Manage engineering and production costs in the cloud environment.
• Identify and track SLAs for regular review.
• Collaborate with Support to build tools for productive customer communications.
• Evaluate areas for managed service over self-hosted solutions.

Role Overview

As Database admin with strong DevOps skills complement an Engineering teams capability to foster our "you build it, you run it" culture

• Design and implement data processing in a big data environment
• Database design and management in a cloud environment
• Build and sustain the pipeline of data ingress, processing and data distribution
• Identify the most efficient technology approach to the implement business logic
• As liaison into the larger DevOps organization ensure alignment with the strategic technology approach and DevOps concepts
• Entertain working relationships with your technical counterparts at our vendors and external partners
• Implement monitoring and alerting to support the team reaching customer related SLAs
• Manage engineering and production costs in our cloud environment
• Identify and track SLAs for regular review
• Collaborate with our Support team to build the tool set that can feed into productive customer communications
• Identify areas where to apply managed service over self hosted
