Job summary

PwC in Bangalore is seeking a motivated DataBase Admin Sr. Associate to independently manage SQL Server and Oracle databases for client engagements, ensuring performance and SLA adherence.

You will lead incidents, plan changes, backups, DR, and mentor junior DBAs, while contributing to governance and reporting.

Candidates should have 6–7 years of hands-on experience and strong scripting and ITIL knowledge.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end DB operations for SQL Server and Oracle environments.
• Lead incident resolution for P1/P2 database issues to maintain SLA.
• Design and implement performance tuning, index optimization and query tuning.
• Plan schema changes, upgrades, patches, and migrations per change management.
• Develop and maintain backup/recovery and DR runbooks; test recoveries.
• Configure Always On Availability Groups and Oracle Data Guard/RAC.
• Conduct capacity planning and advise on growth management.
• Mentor Associate DBAs and support skill development.
• Produce weekly and monthly health reports for clients and stakeholders.
• Drive process improvements to reduce toil and improve service quality.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Database Administrator to independently manage th SQL Server and Oracle database environments for one or more client engagements, acting as the primary technical point of contact for day-to-day operations. The role drives performance optimization, change delivery and junior team development while maintaining rigorous adherence to SLA and governance standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end database operations for assigned client engagements, covering SQL Server and Oracle production and non-production environments.
• Lead incident resolution for P1/P2 database issues, coordinating with application, infrastructure and vendor teams to restore service within SLA.
• Design and implement performance tuning solutions including index optimisation, query rewrites, wait-statistics analysis and execution plan review.
• Plan and execute database changes schema changes, version upgrades, patch cycles and migration activities — following change management procedures.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery and DR runbooks; conduct periodic recovery tests and report outcomes.
• Configure and manage Always On Availability Groups (SQL Server) and Oracle Data Guard / RAC environments.
• Conduct capacity planning reviews, forecast storage and compute requirements, and advise clients on growth management.
• Mentor and technically guide Associate DBAs, reviewing their work and supporting skill development.
• Produce weekly and monthly operational health reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Identify and drive process improvement opportunities to reduce toil and improve service quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology field preferred
• Minimum of 6-7 years of hands-on experience on Database Technologies.
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting
• Strong working knowledge of ITIL principles and ITSM
