The role combines practical game development knowledge with analytical evaluation, requiring you to understand game systems, inspect code, identify bugs, and assess AI-generated solutions. Your annotations and technical feedback will help create reliable datasets for training and evaluating AI models on real-world game development challenges. This is a remote, part-time opportunity with flexible working hours and a consistent commitment to quality and delivery.

Accountabilities:
  • Analyse existing game development projects built with Godot, Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar game engines.

  • Navigate game project repositories, understand their structure, and identify relevant scripts, assets, dependencies, and implementation paths.

  • Review gameplay mechanics, game systems, player interactions, and their underlying technical implementation.

  • Produce structured annotations covering game development tasks, code changes, gameplay implementations, engine configurations, and technical workflows.

  • Evaluate AI-generated game development code to determine whether it meets specified gameplay and technical requirements.

  • Identify and investigate gameplay bugs, engine-related issues, scripting errors, and implementation inconsistencies.

  • Assess modifications to existing game codebases and determine whether they correctly address the intended requirements.

  • Review game engine settings, project configurations, scene structures, and other relevant development components.

  • Analyse playtest observations, player feedback, gameplay issues, and bug reports to identify potential technical improvements.

  • Review Git and GitHub workflows, including branches, commits, pull requests, and code reviews.

  • Document technical findings and provide clear evaluation feedback while maintaining accuracy and consistency with project guidelines.

Requirements:
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in game development or game design involving hands-on game engine usage.

  • Practical experience with at least one game engine, such as Godot, Unity, or Unreal Engine.

  • Experience working with existing game codebases, including understanding, modifying, debugging, and extending code.

  • Familiarity with Git and GitHub workflows, including branching, commits, pull requests, code reviews, and resolving review comments.

  • Experience using Jira or similar project and task management tools.

  • Basic understanding of game development concepts, gameplay mechanics, engine configurations, and player feedback or playtest triage.

  • Ability to navigate unfamiliar repositories, identify relevant files and dependencies, and trace implementation paths.

  • Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software and gameplay-related issues.

  • Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Clear technical documentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain implementation-related observations.

  • Relevant profiles include Game Developers, Technical Game Designers, Gameplay Programmers, and professionals with practical experience in game engines, gameplay debugging, and technical implementation.

  • Availability for at least 2 hours of dedicated work per day, 6 days per week, with consistent delivery against project deadlines and quality standards.

Benefits:
  • Remote working arrangement from India.

  • Part-time engagement with flexible working hours, subject to project deadlines and task requirements.

  • Hourly compensation of USD 30-80.
