The CTOT Scrub Nurse will be responsible for assisting surgeons during cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, and ensuring smooth surgical workflow. The requires strong technical knowledge of surgical procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operation theatre for cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries.
• Ensure availability and sterility of all surgical instruments and consumables.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and maintaining surgical field during procedures.
• Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout surgeries.
• Anticipate surgeon requirements and ensure timely availability of instruments.
• Handle specialized instruments used in cardiothoracic procedures.
• Count surgical instruments, sponges, and materials before and after procedures.
• Assist in patient preparation, positioning, and draping for surgery.
• Monitor sterile field and prevent contamination during procedures.
• Coordinate with anesthetists, perfusionists, and OT team members.
• Assist in handling emergencies during complex surgical procedures.
• Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste as per protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures and instrument usage.
• Participate in post-operative cleaning and preparation of OT.
• Ensure proper functioning and readiness of OT equipment.
• Follow hospital policies, infection control guidelines, and safety standards.
• Support post-operative patient transfer and recovery processes.
