Job summary

• Proficiency in MS Office and crew management software with attention to detail.
• Ability to make decisions under time pressure and handle multiple priorities.
• Maritime or HR-related degree; professional maritime certifications are an advantage.
• On-site experience in Kolkata or a similar maritime hub preferred.
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and crew welfare with inclusive leadership.

Role Description

The Crew Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Kolkata Area. In this role, the Crew Manager oversees all aspects of crew management, including planning crew rotations, coordinating recruitment and selection, and ensuring timely placement of qualified seafarers on assigned vessels. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining accurate crew records, managing certification and compliance with flag state and international regulations, and liaising with ship owners, agents, and regulatory bodies. The Crew Manager also monitors crew performance, supports retention and welfare initiatives, addresses operational crew-related issues, and collaborates with other departments to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in crew management, maritime operations, or ship management, with a solid understanding of international maritime regulations and standards.
• Strong organizational and planning skills, including crew scheduling, record-keeping, and documentation management.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills for coordinating with ship owners, crew members, agencies, and regulatory authorities.
• Proficiency in using MS Office and relevant crew management or HR software, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions under time constraints, handle multiple priorities, and resolve crew-related issues proactively.
• Relevant maritime, nautical science, marine engineering, or business/HR-related degree or diploma; professional certifications in maritime management are an advantage.
• Prior experience in an on-site role within a ship management company or shipping industry in the Greater Kolkata Area or similar maritime hub is preferred.
