Job summary

SGCCI in Surat, Gujarat, is seeking a dedicated Costing Specialist to develop accurate product costs and drive profitability through meticulous analysis of materials, labour, and overhead. You will co-ordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores and Accounts to ensure costing inputs are precise and up to date.

The role requires strong Excel skills, BOM understanding, and experience in costs and manufacturing. You will contribute to MIS reporting and cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineer with knowledge of Excel, BOM and engineering design.
• Experience in machine manufacturing and costing preferred.
• Strong analytical and calculation skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare costing for products based on materials, labour, overhead and other expenses.
• Calculate material consumption and cost per BOM/specifications.
• Compute direct and indirect labour costs.
• Allocate factory, power, maintenance and admin overhead.
• Prepare costing sheets for enquiries and quotes.
• Analyze product cost, selling price and profitability.
• Identify variances between standard and actual costs.
• Suggest cost reduction opportunities.
• Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores and Accounts to verify costing inputs.
• Prepare daily/monthly cost reports and MIS.
• Support price revisions with cost data.
• Maintain costing data in ERP/Excel.
• Monitor inventory wastage and valuation.

Job description

Product Costing – Prepare accurate costing for products based on raw material, labour, overhead and other expenses.

Raw Material Cost Calculation – Calculate material consumption and cost as per BOM/specifications.

Labour Costing – Calculate direct and indirect labour costs involved in production.

Overhead Calculation – Allocate factory, power, maintenance, administrative and other overhead costs.

Quotation Costing – Prepare costing sheets for new enquiries, quotations and customer requirements.

Cost & Margin Analysis – Analyse product cost, selling price, gross margin and profitability.

Actual vs. Standard Cost – Compare standard costing with actual production costs and identify variances.

Cost Reduction – Identify opportunities to reduce material wastage, production expenses and other costs.

Production Data Verification – Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores and Accounts teams to verify costing inputs.

MIS & Costing Reports – Prepare daily/monthly costing reports, variance reports and management MIS.

Price Revision Support – Analyse changes in raw material, labour and overhead costs for pricing revisions.

ERP/Excel Management – Maintain costing data, formulas, BOMs and reports in ERP/Excel.

Inventory & Wastage Analysis – Monitor material consumption, stock valuation and production wastage.

Management Coordination – Provide cost and profitability analysis to management for business decisions.

Key skills for the position:
