Job summary

ALSTOM Gruppe in Bengaluru is seeking a full-time Costing Engineer - CDS Interiors to develop cost models for product families and drive cost reductions across metallics and FRP processes. You will collaborate with Project Engineering Managers, Train Design Engineers and Sourcing Teams to embed cost-conscious practices in the engineering design cycle.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in costing or cost engineering.
• Good product knowledge and understanding of industrial processes (Metallics & FRP).
• Curiosity, open-mindedness and rigorous attention to detail.
• Experience with DMA/CATIA and SAP is a nice to have.

Responsibilities

• Create cost models for product families and evaluate technical costs.
• Contribute to design or manufacturing process improvements to reduce costs.
• Promote a cost-conscious culture within the engineering team.
• Provide detailed cost breakdowns to support supplier negotiations.
• Capture supplier feedback and formalize cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with Project Engineering Managers, Train Design Engineers and Sourcing Teams.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your technical costing expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates.

You’ll play a key role in shaping cost-efficient designs and fostering a cost-conscious culture within the engineering team. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Engineering Managers, Train Design Engineers, Sourcing Teams), support the development-to-cost way of working, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of creating cost models for product families and evaluating technical costs, but also contribute to design or process improvements to achieve cost reductions.

We’ll look to you for:

• Applying or developing methodologies to calculate the technical cost of components/systems throughout the product development cycle
• Performing cost analysis on components/systems
• Proposing improvements in design or manufacturing processes to reduce technical costs
• Promoting a cost-conscious culture within the engineering team
• Providing detailed cost breakdowns to support supplier negotiations
• Sharing feedback from suppliers and formalizing cost-saving opportunities
