Job summary

Steelcon Engineering LLP in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, is seeking a detail-oriented Costing & Estimation Engineer (Pressure Equipment) to join our estimating team. You will translate complex engineering inquiries into precise, competitive techno-commercial proposals across Design, Production, QC, and Procurement.

Requirements include 3+ years in cost estimation for pressure vessels or heavy fabrication, BE/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, strong MS Excel skills, and knowledge of ASME BPVC Sec VIII

Qualifications

• 3+ years in cost estimation for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or heavy fabrication.
• Working knowledge of ASME BPVC Sec. VIII Div. 1, TEMA, PED.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (costing models, formulas, matrices).
• Exposure to AutoCAD and PV Elite or COMPASS/Compress is a plus.
• Strong business English and vendor negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, datasheets and tender documents; prepare BOMs and cost estimates.
• Interpret GADs, TCS, and TQs; identify scope deviations and costs early.
• Coordinate RFQs with approved vendors/subcontractors; secure lead times.
• Cross-functional review of incoming POs against bids; support handovers to Design, Production, QC and Commercial.

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Costing & Estimation Engineerto serve as the commercial engine of our estimating department.Sitting at the intersection of Design,QC,Production,and Procurement,you will convert complex engineering inquiries into precise,competitive techno-commercial proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• RFQ & Proposal Management:Review RFQs,datasheets,and tender documents.Prepare BOMs,weight calculations,material take-offs,and complete equipment cost estimates.


• Technical Evaluation:Interpret GADs,Technical Comparison Sheets (TCS),and Technical Queries (TQs).Identify scope deviations and cost implications early.


• Vendor & Supply Chain Coordination:Float RFQs to approved vendors/subcontractors.Build comparison matrices,negotiate pricing,and secure committed material lead times.


• Cross-Functional Bridge:Review incoming POs against submitted bids and streamline order handovers across Design,Production,QC,and Commercial departments.


• Commercial Monitoring:Maintain RFQ registers,assist with receivables tracking,monitor project margins,and protect proprietary company data.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience:3+ years in cost estimation for pressure vessels,heat exchangers,or heavy fabrication.


• Codes & Standards:Working knowledge ofASME BPVC Sec. VIII Div. 1, TEMA, PED,and ASME dimensional standards (B16.5,B16.9,B16.11,B36.10M/19M).


• Software:Advanced MS Excel (costing models,formulas,matrices) and otherMS Office tools.Exposure to AutoCAD & PV Elite or COMPRESS is a plus.


• Competencies:Strong business English,effective vendor negotiation skills,and a proactive approach to closing out tasks.
