Experience in Product Teardown Should‑cost analysis for electromechanical products. Experience in developing detailed PCBA cost models covering: PCB fabrication (layer stack‑up, materials, finishes, panelization); component costing (passives, actives, ICs, connectors, custom parts); assembly processes (SMT, THT, mixed‑tech, testing, rework); cost estimation knowledge during concept, design, prototype, pilot, and mass‑production phases. Analyze cost drivers such as component selection, yield, takt time, panel utilization, and logistics. Track cost evolution across revisions, ECNs, and lifecycle changes. Guide design‑to‑cost and value engineering initiatives. Analyze schematics, BOMs, and assembly drawings from a cost perspective. Monitor market trends, technology shifts, and cost fluctuations in electronics manufacturing. Maintain a repository of costing methodologies, assumptions, and historical cost‑saving case studies. Prepare and present cost analysis reports, value engineering proposals, and cost breakdowns to the stakeholders.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering or related discipline. 8 to 15+ years of experience in Should Costing and Value Engineering for electronics hardware. Exposure to automotive, Avionics, industrial, consumer, networking, or IoT electronics. Strong understanding of hardware products design (schematics, BOMs, component selection). Knowledge of regulatory and quality requirements impacting PCBA cost (IPC, ISO, automotive standards). Demonstrated track record of achieving measurable cost savings through engineering and sourcing strategies. Excellent analytical, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Familiarity working on costing tools, Hand calculations etc.
