Job summary

VHAN Confiance (OPC) Private Limited in Chennai is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to manage product costing, inventory valuation, cost analysis, and financial reporting. You will work closely with Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Operations to monitor costs, improve profitability, and ensure accurate accounting of inventory and production expenses.

The role requires 3–7 years in cost accounting, with CMA qualification preferred or CA Inter/equivalent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.
• CMA qualification preferred; CA Inter or equivalent also considered.
• 3–7 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial products.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, BOM costing, and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (Tally, SAP, Oracle, Zoho Books).
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare product cost sheets and BOM costing.
• Analyze costs across manufacturing, procurement, and operations to find savings.
• Monitor material, labor, and overhead costs; investigate variances.
• Perform inventory valuation and periodic reconciliation.
• Ensure accurate accounting of inventory, WIP, and finished goods.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities for cost accounting.
• Prepare cost reports, profitability analysis, and MIS reports.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Operations on pricing and costs.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and standard cost updates.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Support audits with cost and inventory documentation.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance cost control.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate product cost sheets and Bills of Materials (BOM) costing.
• Analyze manufacturing, procurement, and operational costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor material, labor, and overhead costs and investigate cost variances.
• Perform inventory valuation and reconciliation on a periodic basis.
• Ensure accurate accounting of inventory, WIP (Work-in-Progress), and finished goods.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities related to cost accounting.
• Prepare cost reports, profitability analysis, and management MIS reports.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Operations teams to validate material pricing and production costs.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and standard cost updates.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, and internal financial controls.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required cost and inventory documentation.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance cost control and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.
• CMA (Cost & Management Accountant) qualification preferred. CA Inter or equivalent candidates with relevant experience may also be considered.
• 3–7 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing, trading, or industrial products environment.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, BOM costing, and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (such as Tally, SAP, Oracle, or Zoho Books/Inventory).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
