Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (M.E./M.Tech preferred).
• 15–20 years of electrical construction and project execution experience.
• Experience in constructing 220 kV, 400 kV, or 765 kV substations and transmission infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of EHV equipment installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Experience managing large construction teams, contractors, and multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage electrical construction activities for 400 kV Transmission Line and Substation projects.
• Supervise installation of power transformers, reactors, GIS/AIS switchyard equipment, CTs, PTs/CVTs, circuit breakers, isolators, PLCC systems, control and relay panels, SCADA systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, client teams, consultants, OEMs, and multidisciplinary engineering teams for seamless project execution.
• Ensure construction activities are executed as per approved drawings, technical specifications, project schedules, and quality standards.
• Monitor project progress and achieve construction milestones within budget and timelines.
• Review construction methodologies, work procedures, method statements, and contractor execution plans.
• Manage site resources, workforce deployment, construction planning, and productivity optimization.
• Oversee electrical erection, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety standards, HSE requirements, and quality management systems.
• Conduct site inspections, progress reviews, and coordination meetings with stakeholders.
• Monitor contractor performance, certify work progress, verify measurements, and support billing activities.
• Identify project risks, construction challenges, and implement corrective actions to maintain project schedules.
• Prepare periodic construction progress reports and present updates to project management and client representatives.

About the Opportunity

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) is seeking a highly experienced Construction Manager - Electrical for a prestigious 400 kV Transmission Line & Substation EPCM Project based at Rapar, Gujarat. The selected candidate will lead and oversee all electrical construction activities related to EHV substations and transmission infrastructure, ensuring safe, quality, and timely project execution in accordance with project specifications and client requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

• 15 to 20 years of experience in electrical construction and project execution of EHV Transmission Line and Substation projects.
• Proven experience in construction management of 220 kV, 400 kV, or 765 kV substations and transmission infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of EHV electrical equipment installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Experience in managing large construction teams, contractors, and multiple project stakeholders.
• Sound understanding of transmission utility specifications, construction standards, and electrical safety requirements.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project schedules.
• Strong leadership, planning, project management, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in EPC/EPCM execution of Transmission & Distribution projects.
• Exposure to AIS/GIS substations, SCADA systems, protection systems, and power transformers.
• Experience working with major utilities, transmission companies, developers, or engineering consultants.
• Familiarity with project management tools and construction planning software.
