Job summary

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) is seeking a seasoned Project Manager for LPS and STATCOM on a 400 kV Transmission Line and Substation EPCM project. You will lead end-to-end activities across engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning with a focus on protection & control systems and grid integration.

The role requires deep domain knowledge in STATCOM, FACTS, protection schemes, and coordination with utilities, OEMs, and EPC contractors. Mumbai-based with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of experience in Power Transmission, Substation, FACTS, STATCOM, Protection & Control, or EPC/EPCM projects.
• Experience managing EHV Substation projects involving STATCOM, Protection Systems, SCADA, Automation, and Grid Integration.
• Strong understanding of Line Protection Schemes, Numerical Relays, Distance Protection, Differential Protection, Busbar Protection, and Automation Systems.
• Hands-on testing and commissioning of protection and control systems.
• Knowledge of transmission utility standards, power system studies, and grid compliance requirements.
• Experience coordinating with utilities, OEMs, consultants, and EPC contractors.
• Strong project management, stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end execution of LPS and STATCOM packages for EHV transmission and substation projects.
• Coordinate with client, OEMs, EPC contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders for successful project delivery.
• Review engineering deliverables including protection schemes, relay coordination studies, SLDs, logic diagrams, interlocking philosophy, and control system interfaces.
• Manage procurement activities, vendor engineering reviews, FAT/SAT, inspection, and expediting of critical equipment.
• Monitor installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities of STATCOM and protection systems.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, Grid Codes, CEA regulations, and utility requirements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces involving protection, control, SCADA, telecom, automation, and substation engineering teams.
• Track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans to achieve milestones.
• Lead technical discussions, progress review meetings, and coordination meetings with clients and contractors.
• Review contractor invoices, progress reports, schedules, and project documentation.
• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and environmental requirements throughout project execution.
• Support project planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and reporting to senior management.

About the Opportunity

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) is seeking an experienced Project Manager - LPS & STATCOM for a prestigious 400 kV Transmission Line and Substation EPCM Project. The role will be responsible for managing and coordinating all engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities related to Line Protection Systems (LPS) and STATCOM systems while ensuring project delivery within schedule, quality, safety, and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Desired Candidate Profile

• 12 to 15 years of experience in Power Transmission, Substation, FACTS, STATCOM, Protection & Control, or EPC/EPCM projects.
• Proven experience in managing EHV Substation projects involving STATCOM, Protection Systems, SCADA, Automation, and Grid Integration.
• Strong understanding of Line Protection Schemes, Numerical Relays, Distance Protection, Differential Protection, Busbar Protection, and Automation Systems.
• Hands‑on exposure to testing and commissioning of protection and control systems.
• Knowledge of transmission utility standards, power system studies, and grid compliance requirements.
• Experience in coordination with utilities, OEMs, consultants, and EPC contractors.
• Strong project management, stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in 220 kV, 400 kV, or 765 kV Transmission Line and Substation projects.
• Prior experience in STATCOM, FACTS, Reactive Power Compensation, Grid Stability, and Power Quality projects.
• Experience working on EPC/EPCM assignments for utilities, renewable integration, or transmission infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with project scheduling tools, contract management, and risk management processes.
