Job Description

The Consultant – Maxillofacial Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and surgically managing conditions affecting the face, jaw, mouth, teeth-related structures, and associated facial tissues, including trauma, tumors, deformities, and reconstructive conditions.

• Conduct comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical consultations.
• Diagnose and manage facial, jaw, oral, and maxillofacial conditions.
• Evaluate patients with facial trauma, fractures, cysts, tumors, infections, and deformities.
• Review dental imaging, X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and laboratory investigations.
• Develop individualized surgical and treatment plans.
• Perform maxillofacial and oral surgical procedures within the scope of expertise.
• Manage facial and jaw trauma and emergency surgical conditions.
• Perform reconstructive procedures for facial and oral defects when required.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments and surgical planning.
• Provide post-operative monitoring and manage surgical complications.
• Coordinate with dentists, ENT specialists, plastic surgeons, neurosurgeons, oncologists, anesthetists, and other specialists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
• Counsel patients and families regarding procedures, risks, recovery, and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate clinical and surgical documentation.
• Supervise residents, fellows, and junior medical staff.
• Follow infection control, surgical safety, and patient care protocols.
• Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement programs.
• Support teaching, research, and continuing medical education.
• Stay updated with advancements in maxillofacial surgery and reconstructive techniques.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Head of Maxillofacial Surgery or Medical Superintendent.
