Job summary

JSW JFE Electrical Steel Nashik Pvt Ltd invites applications for a Mechanical Maintenance role within its Nashik facility. The role spans preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance across multiple lines including APm, decarburizing, furnace and slitting sections.

The candidate will coordinate with production and electrical teams, and maintain equipment history and spare parts records. Experience in steel industry maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of production equipment.
• Identify mechanical failures and implement root-cause corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment condition and ensure timely replacement of critical components.
• Coordinate with production and electrical/instrumentation teams for maintenance activities.
• Maintain records of breakdowns, maintenance activities, spare consumption, and equipment history.
• Maintenance of annealing furnace and related mechanical systems.
• Maintenance of pickling and strip handling equipment in APm line.
• Maintenance of decarburizing line components and strip handling systems.
• Inspection and maintenance of furnace rolls, bearings, gearboxes, and drive systems.
• Maintenance of slitting line components and tension stands.
• Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedules and PM checklists.
• Attend emergency breakdowns and perform systematic troubleshooting and corrective actions.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Mechanical Maintenance

• Carry out preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of production equipment.
• Identify mechanical failures and implement effective root-cause corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment condition and ensure timely replacement of critical components.
• Maintain equipment availability and reliability as per production requirements.
• Coordinate with production and electrical/instrumentation teams for maintenance activities.
• Maintain proper records of breakdowns, maintenance activities, spare consumption, and equipment history.

2. Annealing & Pickling Mill (APM)

• Experience in maintenance of the following equipment will be preferred:
• Annealing furnace and furnace-related mechanical systems.
• Pickling section and acid circulation equipment.
• Strip entry and exit equipment.
• Pay-off and tension reel systems.
• Bridle rolls and pinch rolls.
• Rollers, bearings, gearboxes, couplings, and drive mechanisms.
• Strip steering and guiding systems.
• Squeegee rolls and related mechanical systems.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Pumps, valves, pipelines, and associated equipment.
• Cooling and exhaust systems.
• Mechanical handling and coil transfer equipment.

3. Decarburizing Line

• Maintenance of mechanical equipment associated with decarburizing/annealing operations.
• Maintenance of furnace rolls, bearings, gearboxes, couplings, and drive systems.
• Inspection and maintenance of strip handling, tensioning, guiding, and conveying systems.
• Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
• Troubleshooting of recurring mechanical failures and implementation of corrective actions.
• Monitoring critical equipment parameters and developing preventive maintenance plans.

4. Furnace Maintenance

• Maintenance of industrial heat-treatment/annealing furnace mechanical systems.
• Inspection of furnace rolls, shafts, bearings, seals, gearboxes, and drive systems.
• Maintenance of furnace doors, dampers, cooling systems, fans, and associated mechanical equipment.
• Coordinate furnace shutdown maintenance and major overhauling activities.
• Ensure proper alignment, lubrication, and condition monitoring of rotating equipment.
• Support furnace performance improvement and reliability initiatives.

5. Slitting Line Maintenance

• Mechanical maintenance of slitting machines and coil processing equipment.
• Maintenance of decoilers, recoilers, tension stands, pinch rolls, separators, and scrap winders.
• Maintenance and alignment of slitter shafts, knives, spacers, bearings, gearboxes, and couplings.
• Troubleshooting of strip tracking, vibration, alignment, and tension-related mechanical problems.
• Ensure proper condition and availability of critical slitting-line spares.
• Support changeover and maintenance activities to minimize production downtime.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
• Conduct routine inspection of critical mechanical equipment.
• Monitor lubrication, vibration, temperature, alignment, and other equipment health parameters.
• Identify potential failures before equipment breakdown.
• Develop and improve PM checklists based on equipment history and failure patterns.
• Maintain equipment history and analyze recurring breakdowns.

Breakdown Maintenance

• Attend emergency breakdowns and restore equipment at the earliest possible time.
• Perform systematic troubleshooting and identify root causes.
• Coordinate manpower and resources during critical breakdowns.
• Prepare breakdown reports with failure causes and corrective actions.
