Job summary

Cyient Limited in Bengaluru is seeking a CNC Machine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee breakdown and preventive maintenance of CNC Turning, VMC, and HMC machines. The role drives equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and leads a maintenance team across shifts.

The incumbent will plan maintenance schedules, troubleshoot complex faults, and coordinate with OEMs to ensure quick restorations, while maintaining records and ensuring a safe, Kaizen-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering.
• 5–6 years of CNC machine maintenance experience.
• Preferably 2 years of supervisory or team-leading experience.
• Knowledge of RCA and CAPA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate breakdown maintenance for CNC Turning, VMC, and HMC.
• Plan, schedule, and monitor preventive maintenance for all CNC machines.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.

Job Summary:

To ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of all CNC machines and associated equipment by managing breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities. The role is responsible for minimizing machine downtime, improving equipment reliability, ensuring maintenance team effectiveness, and supporting uninterrupted production operations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. Breakdown Maintenance

• Supervise and coordinate breakdown maintenance activities for CNC Turning, VMC, and HMC machines.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults to ensure quick restoration of machines.
• Identify the root causes of recurring machine failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Minimize machine breakdown time and production losses through effective maintenance planning and execution.
• Coordinate with OEMs and external service providers for critical machine repairs.

B. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance

• Plan, schedule, and monitor preventive maintenance activities for all CNC machines.
• Ensure timely execution of daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance schedules.
• Monitor machine health and identify potential failures before they impact production.
• Ensure proper functioning of lubrication, hydraulic, pneumatic, and coolant systems.
• Review PM effectiveness and implement improvements to enhance machine reliability.

C. CNC Machine Technical Support

• Possess working knowledge of CNC Turning, VMC, and HMC machines.
• Understand basic CNC controls, servo motors, spindle drives, sensors, encoders, and machine alarms.
• Troubleshoot machine-related mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ensure proper functioning of machine tool systems, safety interlocks, and auxiliary equipment.
• Support machine setting, alignment, leveling, and other maintenance-related activities.

D. Team Management and Supervision

• Supervise and allocate daily maintenance activities to technicians, fitters, and maintenance personnel.
• Monitor team performance and ensure timely completion of assigned maintenance jobs.
• Guide and train maintenance technicians on troubleshooting techniques and preventive maintenance practices.
• Ensure adequate manpower availability across shifts.
• Maintain effective coordination between maintenance and production teams.

E. Documentation and Maintenance Records

• Maintain machine breakdown reports and downtime records.
• Ensure proper completion and updating of preventive maintenance checklists.
• Maintain machine history cards and equipment maintenance records.
• Monitor spare-parts inventory and ensure the availability of critical spares.
• Prepare and analyze maintenance-related reports using MS Excel.
• Update maintenance activities in SAP PM, wherever applicable.

F. Safety and Continuous Improvement

• Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and machine safety procedures.
• Implement 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices in the maintenance area.
• Ensure safe working practices during maintenance and repair activities.
• Identify opportunities to reduce recurring breakdowns, maintenance costs, and equipment downtime.
• Promote a safety-conscious and improvement-oriented working environment.

G. Production Coordination

• Coordinate with production supervisors and managers for planned maintenance activities.
• Prioritize breakdowns based on production requirements and machine criticality.
• Communicate machine status, repair progress, and expected restoration time to production.
• Support production targets by ensuring maximum machine availability.

Experience and Technical Competencies

• 5 to 6 years of experience in CNC machine maintenance.
• Preferably 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team-leading role.
• Practical knowledge of CNC Turning, VMC, and HMC machines.
• Good understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and coolant systems.
• Basic knowledge of CNC controllers, servo drives, spindle drives, sensors, and machine alarms.
• Experience in breakdown troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel; SAP PM knowledge is preferred.
