Job summary

Venttup Ventures in Bengaluru, Karnataka seeks an experienced CNC Lathe Operator responsible for machine setup, tool and fixture setting, turning operations, and ensuring strict dimensional accuracy of precision components.

You will read engineering drawings, apply GD&T, select cutting tools, monitor tool wear, and perform in-process measurements using calipers and micrometers to maintain tolerances and quality.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in CNC turning operations and precision component manufacturing.
• Good knowledge of CNC turning operations, cutting tools, tool offsets, engineering drawings, basic GD&T, and precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC turning/lathe machines for manufacturing precision components as per production requirements.
• Perform machine setup, including job setting, fixture setting, tool setting, and work-offset setting.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, machining drawings, and work instructions.
• Understand machining dimensions, tolerances, surface-finish requirements, and machining specifications.
• Carry out turning, facing, boring, grooving, threading, drilling, and other CNC turning operations.
• Select and use cutting tools, inserts, holders, and machining parameters based on job requirements.
• Monitor machining operations and make tool-offset and wear corrections to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Check components during production using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges.
• Ensure components meet specified dimensional tolerances and surface-finish requirements.
• Identify and report tool wear, machine abnormalities, dimensional deviations, and quality issues.
• Adjust machining parameters or tool offsets to maintain quality.
• Maintain traceability of components during production.
• Follow production schedules and achieve targets and delivery timelines.
• Maintain cleanliness around the machine and work area.
• Follow safety, quality and operational procedures.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve issues.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced CNC Lathe Operator with strong hands-on experience in CNC turning operations and precision component manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for machine setup, tool and fixture setting, production machining, dimensional inspection, and maintaining the required quality and accuracy of components.

The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of CNC turning operations, cutting tools, tool offsets, engineering drawings, basic GD&T, and precision measuring instruments.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CNC turning/lathe machines for manufacturing precision components as per production requirements.


• Perform machine setup, including job setting, fixture setting, tool setting, and work-offset setting.


• Read and interpret engineering drawings, machining drawings, and work instructions.


• Understand machining dimensions, tolerances, surface-finish requirements, and machining specifications.


• Carry out turning, facing, boring, grooving, threading, drilling, and other CNC turning operations as required.


• Select and use appropriate cutting tools, inserts, holders, and machining parameters based on job requirements.

• Coordinate with the Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve machining and quality-related issues.


• Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, fixtures, measuring instruments, and finished components.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in CNC Turning / CNC Lathe operations.


• Good knowledge of turning, facing, boring, grooving, threading, and drilling operations.


• Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, tool selection, and tool life management.


• Good understanding of tool offsets, work offsets, and offset corrections.


• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and machining instructions.


• Basic understanding of GD&T and dimensional tolerances.


• Ability to use vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.


• Knowledge of CNC machine setup and job/fixture setting.


• Ability to identify tool wear, dimensional variations, and machining defects.


• Basic knowledge of CNC machine troubleshooting and process-related issues will be an advantage.


• Good understanding of shop-floor safety and quality procedures.

Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Machinist, Tool & Die Making, or a related technical trade.


• ITI – Machinist / Turner candidates with relevant CNC experience are also preferred.


• Candidates with a Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering and strong hands‑on CNC turning experience will be considered.

Experience

• 5–6 years of relevant hands‑on experience in CNC Lathe / CNC Turning operations.


• Experience in precision engineering, aerospace, defence, automotive, or CNC manufacturing industries will be preferred.


• Candidates with experience in manufacturing high‑precision components with tight dimensional tolerances will have an added advantage.
