Job Description
A Clinical Associate - Obstetrics and Gynaecology supports the medical team in providing clinical care to women across obstetric and gynaecological services. The involves patient assessment, history taking, clinical examination, monitoring, assisting with investigations and procedures, supporting antenatal and postnatal care, responding to emergencies under supervision, maintaining records, and coordinating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Assist in assessing patients in obstetric and gynaecological services.
- Obtain and document relevant medical, obstetric, and gynaecological history.
- Perform clinical examinations within appropriate training and supervision.
- Monitor maternal vital signs and relevant clinical parameters.
- Assist in antenatal, postnatal, and routine gynaecological care.
- Support clinicians during consultations, examinations, and procedures.
- Assist with interpretation and documentation of relevant laboratory and imaging reports.
- Monitor patients during pregnancy and report abnormal findings promptly.
- Assist in preparing patients for procedures and surgical interventions.
- Support labour and delivery-related care under qualified supervision.
- Assist in the assessment and initial management of obstetric emergencies.
- Monitor post-operative and post-delivery patients as directed.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes and patient records.
- Support admission, transfer, discharge, and referral processes.
- Coordinate with nursing, laboratory, radiology, anaesthesia, and other departments.
- Provide appropriate patient and family communication under clinical supervision.
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical protocols.
- Participate in rounds, case discussions, training, and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and professional conduct.
