Job Description
A Deputy Clinical Nurse supports nursing leadership in coordinating clinical nursing services and ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The involves supervising nursing staff, monitoring clinical practices, coordinating with doctors and multidisciplinary teams, supporting staff development, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies, and patient-safety requirements.
- Support nursing leadership in managing daily clinical nursing operations.
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff across assigned departments or units.
- Assist with nursing manpower allocation, duty assignments, and shift planning.
- Monitor the quality, safety, and continuity of patient care.
- Ensure adherence to nursing SOPs, clinical protocols, and hospital policies.
- Monitor medication administration and medication-safety practices.
- Review nursing documentation, patient records, and clinical handovers.
- Coordinate with doctors, consultants, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Participate in clinical rounds and review patient-care requirements.
- Support management of complex clinical situations and emergencies.
- Address nursing-related patient and attendant concerns appropriately.
- Ensure availability of nursing equipment, medicines, consumables, and supplies.
- Monitor infection-prevention and control practices.
- Guide and mentor nursing staff in clinical and patient-care activities.
- Support orientation, training, and competency-development programs.
- Monitor nursing staff performance and identify development requirements.
- Participate in nursing audits, accreditation, and quality-improvement activities.
- Review incidents and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare nursing performance reports and operational updates.
- Promote patient safety, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Support implementation of nursing process improvements.
- Ensure effective communication and handover between nursing shifts.
- Follow applicable professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
