Job summary

OMS property developments in Chennai seeks a Civil Construction Manager to oversee comprehensive project execution from planning through handover. The role requires coordinating with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure work aligns with approved drawings, schedules, and quality standards.

The manager will supervise daily site activities, manage manpower and equipment, monitor progress, and address any site-related issues to keep milestones on track.

  • Ensure proper manpower, materials, machinery, and equipment are available.

  • Identify drawing discrepancies and obtain necessary clarifications or approvals.

Job description

Civil Construction Manager Roles & Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Management
  • Plan, organize, and manage construction projects from start to completion.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, BOQ, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Prepare construction methodology, work programs, and resource requirements.
  • Ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
2. Site Management
  • Supervise and manage daily construction activities at the project site.
  • Coordinate civil, MEP, subcontractor, and other site activities.
  • Ensure proper manpower, materials, machinery, and equipment are available.
  • Monitor daily progress and resolve site-related issues.
3. Drawing & Technical Coordination
  • Review architectural, structural, and civil drawings before execution.
  • Coordinate with consultants, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies and obtain necessary clarifications or approvals.
  • Ensure construction is carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
4. Quality Control
  • Ensure all construction work meets approved specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with the QA/QC team for inspections and testing.
  • Ensure proper materials and approved construction methods are used.
  • Monitor concrete works, reinforcement, blockwork, plastering, waterproofing, finishing, and other civil activities.
5. Health & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with company and project HSE requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Safety Officer to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure workers follow approved safety procedures and use required PPE.
  • Immediately address unsafe conditions and activities.
6. Project Schedule & Progress
  • Monitor project progress against the approved construction schedule.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Identify delays and prepare recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with planning engineers to update project schedules.
7. Manpower & Subcontractor Management
  • Plan manpower requirements according to project activities.
  • Supervise site engineers, supervisors, foremen, and workers.
  • Manage subcontractors and monitor their performance.
  • Ensure subcontractors complete their work according to schedule, quality, and contract requirements.
8. Material & Equipment Management
  • Coordinate material requirements with the procurement and material management teams.
  • Ensure materials are available at site before starting work.
  • Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
  • Coordinate construction equipment, machinery, and tools.
9. Cost Control
  • Monitor construction costs and project expenditure.
  • Control material wastage, manpower costs, equipment costs, and subcontractor costs.
  • Coordinate with the Quantity Surveyor/Commercial team regarding variations and additional works.
  • Ensure work is completed within the approved project budget.
10. Client & Consultant Coordination
  • Attend project meetings with the client, consultant, and subcontractors.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress and major issues.
  • Coordinate inspections, approvals, and technical submissions.
  • Maintain professional communication with the client and consultant.
11. Documentation & Reporting
  • Review daily site reports, inspection requests, material approvals, and work completion records.
  • Ensure proper documentation of construction activities.
  • Coordinate with the QA/QC, planning, commercial, and document-control teams.
  • Maintain records of site instructions, variations, delays, and approvals.
12. Final Completion & Handover
  • Coordinate testing, inspections, snagging, and rectification works.
  • Ensure all outstanding works are completed before handover.
  • Coordinate preparation of as-built drawings and project documentation.
  • Support the final handover of the project to the client.
