Qualifications

  • Prior experience as Chief Warden/Warden in a residential educational institution.
  • Experience handling PU I and PU II residential students.
  • Experience in a school, PU college, residential college, boarding school or similar educational institution.
  • Strong leadership and administrative capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Should possess crisis-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Should be mature, responsible, approachable and capable of handling adolescents with patience and firmness.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to hostel-related requirements beyond regular working hours.

  • Preferably unmarried, considering campus flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day administration and management of the hostel.
  • Supervise and monitor discipline, conduct, safety and welfare of PU I and PU II residential students.
  • Ensure strict adherence to hostel rules, regulations, schedules and institutional policies.
  • Manage and supervise wardens, caretakers, housekeeping and support staff.
  • Prepare and monitor student routines, study hours, meal timings, recreation and other hostel activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, movements, leave, permissions, incidents and other hostel-related information.
  • Handle student concerns and grievances with maturity, sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Monitor students during study hours, recreation, meals, outings and other hostel activities.
  • Coordinate with Principal, Academic Team, Parents, Security, Transport, Medical and Administration teams as required.
  • Ensure proper implementation of student safety and safeguarding procedures within the hostel.
  • Handle emergencies, medical situations, behavioural issues and other crisis situations promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hostel rooms, common areas and facilities to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, safety and discipline.
  • Ensure smooth coordination of hostel facilities including food, housekeeping, maintenance, security and other essential services.
  • Counsel and guide students regarding discipline, personal responsibility, time management and appropriate behaviour.
  • Conduct regular meetings with wardens and support staff and provide necessary guidance and instructions.
  • Prepare regular reports on hostel operations, student discipline, attendance and incidents for management review.
  • Be available on campus as required to address urgent hostel-related matters.

Job Summary

Presidency PU College, Mangalore, is looking for an experienced and responsible Chief Hostel Warden to oversee the overall administration, discipline, safety, welfare and smooth functioning of the residential hostel for PU I and PU II students.

The ideal candidate should have prior experience as a Chief Warden/Warden in a residential educational institution and should be capable of independently managing hostel operations, wardens, support staff and student-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Profile
  • Mandatory: Prior experience working as a Chief Hostel Warden / Chief Warden.
  • Must have relevant experience in handling PU I and PU II residential/hostel students.
  • Experience in a school, PU college, residential college, boarding school or similar educational institution will be preferred.
  • Strong experience in student discipline, welfare, supervision and hostel administration.
  • Proven ability to manage and supervise wardens and hostel support staff.
  • Strong leadership and administrative capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Should possess strong crisis-management and problem-solving skills.
