Job summary

International School of Management (ISM), Patna, is seeking a responsible Hostel Warden - Male to supervise the Boys' Hostel, ensuring safety, discipline, and well-being of students.

The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day hostel operations, coordinate with housekeeping and security, maintain records, handle emergencies, and enforce the student code of conduct, with a focus on creating a hygienic, supportive residential environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
• Degree/diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Management, Education, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as Hostel Warden or in a supervisory/administrative role in an educational institution.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Experience handling adolescent/young adult students with empathy, patience, and discipline.
• Familiarity with hostel management systems, documentation, and record-keeping.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office and basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Boys' Hostel and ensure discipline and decorum are maintained.
• Ensure the safety and security of all hostel residents.
• Maintain proper records of students residing in the hostel and manage check-in/check-out formalities.
• Monitor hostel attendance, student movement, entry/exit, and compliance with hostel timings.
• Address student concerns, grievances, conflicts, and behavioural issues and escalate serious matters to the Management.
• Prevent and stop ragging and report incidents to the Management.
• Enforce hostel rules and report violations to the Administration.
• Coordinate with housekeeping, security, maintenance, and kitchen staff to ensure hygienic living conditions.
• Conduct regular inspections of hostel premises, rooms, common areas, and facilities.
• Maintain communication with parents/guardians for emergencies or health concerns.
• Provide timely medical assistance to students in case of illness or emergencies.
• Organize orientation and counselling sessions for new students regarding rules and safety.
• Provide guidance to students while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Prepare periodic reports to the Management regarding hostel activities and requirements.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, discipline, security, and overall well-being of students, while maintaining a comfortable, hygienic, and positive residential environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Boys' Hostel and ensure discipline and decorum are maintained.

• Conduct regular inspections of hostel premises, rooms, common areas, and facilities.
• Maintain appropriate communication with parents/guardians in case of emergencies, serious behavioural issues, or health-related concerns.
• Ensure timely medical assistance is provided to students in case of illness, injury, or emergencies.
• Organize orientation and counselling sessions for newly admitted students regarding hostel rules, discipline, safety, security, and code of conduct.
• Provide guidance and support to students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Monitor hostel cleanliness, sanitation, maintenance, and other facility-related requirements.
• Maintain proper documentation and records of incidents, complaints, attendance, student movement, and other hostel activities.
• Prepare and submit periodic reports to the Management regarding hostel activities, student behaviour, discipline, incidents, and requirements.
• Perform any other duties related to hostel administration as assigned by the Management from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Hostel Warden or in a supervisory/administrative role in a college, university, school, or residential educational institution.

• Ability to work in a residential setup and handle emergencies and responsibilities beyond regular working hours when required.
• Candidates willing to stay within or near the hostel premises will be preferred.
