Job summary

Amor Management Consultants in Chennai seeks an experienced Deputy Manager, Buyer for e-Powertrain & EV battery components. You will lead end-to-end sourcing, evaluate quotes, and negotiate terms with suppliers, coordinating with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing teams to ensure on-time production launches.

The role covers traction motors, inverters, OBCs, battery packs, and related components, requiring 10–14 years in automotive purchasing and strong RFQ/costing skills.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10–14 years of automotive purchasing or supplier development experience.
• Direct procurement experience in e-Powertrain and EV battery components.
• Strong knowledge of RFQs, costing, negotiation and supplier selection.
• Experience with SAP MM or similar procurement systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage sourcing from RFQ preparation through supplier nomination and production launch.
• Evaluate supplier quotations, cost breakdowns, tooling costs and terms.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts and delivery terms.
• Identify, evaluate and develop domestic and global suppliers.
• Drive cost reduction, localization, benchmarking and VA/VE initiatives.
• Coordinate APQP/PPAP activities with Engineering and Quality teams.
• Monitor supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery and development.
• Manage purchase orders and engineering changes.
• Identify supply risks and develop alternate sourcing plans.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced purchasing professional to manage sourcing and supplier development for e-Powertrain and EV battery components. The role involves end-to-end purchasing, cost analysis, commercial negotiation and supplier nomination, working closely with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing teams.

Components Covered

• Traction motors, inverters, Motor Control Units (MCU) and e-axles.
• Onboard Chargers (OBC) and DC-DC converters.
• Battery cells, modules, packs and Battery Management Systems (BMS).
• Cell holders, battery harnesses and related components.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage sourcing from RFQ preparation through supplier nomination and production launch.
• Evaluate supplier quotations, component cost breakdowns, tooling costs and commercial terms.

Candidate Requirements

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10–14 years of automotive purchasing, strategic sourcing or vendor development experience.
• Direct procurement experience in e-Powertrain and/or EV battery components.
• Strong knowledge of RFQs, component costing, negotiation and supplier selection.
• Experience with automotive OEMs or relevant Tier-1 suppliers.
• Strong analytical, supplier management and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Familiarity with SAP MM or similar procurement systems.
