Overview

Job Title: BSO Assistant Manager; Job Designation: Assistant Manager; Location: Kolkata; Department: BSO team; Job Type: Full-Time (Timings – 2pm to 10:30pm)

Position Overview: BDO is seeking an F&A Operations executive to lead and manage F&A service delivery operations for identified BSO engagements at BDO EDGE. The BSO executive manages the full-life cycle of all assigned finance and accounting outsource engagements. Responsibilities include proposal development, staff assignment and oversight, final work product review and overall portfolio performance. The successful candidate will lead by example, multi-task and delegate work responsibilities effectively, work efficiently under pressure, meet all deadlines and be a strong team player.

Responsibilities
  • Executes the full-life cycle of all assigned engagements by providing technical expertise in all areas within the finance and accounting function. Performs complete general ledger reconciliation including the entire balance sheet and applies accounting knowledge by properly recording transactions in a general ledger; creates accounting records such as bill payments, client invoices, payroll, and others; identifies and records adjustments; produces accurate financial statements and provides financial analysis.
  • Execution of month end and year end close for both US GAAP, IFRS & Local GAAP, including accruals, prepayment amortization, deposits, inter-company charge back, audit adjustment and miscellaneous journal entries, Tracking Fixed asset ledger.
  • Verification of all day-to-day transactions of sales, payment, purchase orders etc.
  • Preparing the Recurring Expense list, reviewing those expenses & keeping track of expenses every month
  • Generate reports related to payroll expenses, taxes and other payroll-related data to help the organization make informed decisions
  • Review, analyze and process all capital asset disposal and capital asset transfer requests/acquisition along with assistance in preparation of documentation for internal/external audit requests and SOX compliance data requests
  • Able to draw a plan and to provide training for work responsibility to new team members and cross training across the team and become backup for the work responsibility among team.
  • Communicates effectively with client. (mandatory)
  • Able to understand when issues are raised by Associates, Experience Associates, Senior Associates in the team/client and have mindset of researching, analyzing and resolving it in a timely manner working around the establishment TATs (turnaround times).
  • Understanding process and documenting them as detailed SOPs (Standard operating Procedures) as and when required
  • Gathers information necessary from the client to execute on engagements; maintains a running list of information that is needed and follows up to gather information that is missing; organizes this information so it is easily accessible for the team and the client as applicable. Creates, develops, and maintains strong business relationships with clients, both internal and external.
  • Support the client through business changes and helps to develop and execute the change management plan.
  • A team player and helps task management while in crucial deadlines.
  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner that emphasizes key points; persuades others to their point of view with Strong analytical and basic research skills.
  • Ensures compliance to Firm and engagement policies and procedures.
  • Periodically reviews solutions with their clients to determine if it is still the right solution for the current state of the business and recommends appropriate changes.
  • Creates a work plan following best practices of project management (breaking down projects into phases and tasks, estimating time/budget, setting milestones, managing dependencies, and measuring and reviewing progress).
  • Participates in recruiting efforts for Associates and Senior Associates and assists with the new employee on-boarding process.
  • Supports the on-boarding of new BSO engagements into BDO EDGE through the development and execution of end user training plans.
  • Manages the delivery of all F&A services for assigned engagements including the planning, execution and management of month end close deliverables
  • Learns to manage conflict; proactively engages senior leadership when conflict arises
  • Preference would be given if the candidate has knowledge on Cost accounting, inventory system, has worked previously in consumer or retail product industry.
Requirements
Qualification & Experience
  • Experience of 7 years or more in Business Service Outsourcing for Graduates/Postgraduates/ Semi qualified or
  • Experience of 4-7 years for MBA/ACCA/CPA or 3-6 years for CA Qualified
  • Experience working in an outsourced operations environment required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Proven ability to lead a team in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously, while focusing on productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Month end close management experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills to connect with US based clients
Software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive).
  • Proficiency working with pdf documents.
  • Demonstrated experience performing accounting functions in applications such as Quickbooks Online (mandatory), Sage Intacct, Alteryx (or other AI analytics platform), Microsoft NAV and Bill.com, Netsuite.
