Job summary

Weekday AI (YC W21) is seeking a BIW Design Engineer to design BIW components for passenger vehicles using UG NX and Teamcenter. The role requires hands-on experience in BIW design, sheet metal fabrication, and DFM/DFA integration with cross-functional teams.

Location is Pune/Chennai, with full-time employment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of BIW components, packaging constraints, material properties, GD&T, and manufacturing feasibility, supporting quality and performance

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with BIW component design in automotive bodies.
• Knowledge of UG NX and Teamcenter PLM for design and data management.
• Understanding of sheet metal design, packaging requirements, and manufacturing constraints.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop BIW components for passenger vehicles using UG NX.
• Demonstrate knowledge of BIW components and their functional requirements.
• Design components considering packaging space, material grades/properties, and sheet thickness.
• Apply DFM and DFA principles throughout the design process.
• Develop robust sheet metal designs with manufacturability in mind.
• Apply tolerance concepts and GD&T to ensure quality and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve design issues.
• Manage CAD data, revisions, and product structures using Teamcenter PLM.
• Ensure designs meet technical, functional, manufacturing, and quality standards.

We are looking for a skilled BIW Design Engineer with hands‑on experience in automotive Body-in-White component design. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in UG NX and Teamcenter, along with a solid understanding of BIW components, sheet metal design, packaging requirements, and design for manufacturability and assembly.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop BIW components for passenger vehicles using UG NX.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of various BIW components and their functional requirements.
• Design components considering available packaging space, material selection, material grade, material properties, and sheet thickness.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout the design process.
• Develop robust sheet metal designs while considering manufacturing feasibility and assembly requirements.
• Apply appropriate tolerance concepts and GD&T principles to ensure component quality and functional performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve design and feasibility issues.
• Manage CAD data, revisions, and product structures using Teamcenter PLM.
• Ensure designs meet required technical, functional, manufacturing, and quality standards.
