Responsibilities

• Design and develop BIW fixtures, checking fixtures, assembly fixtures, and related tooling.

• Develop 3D fixture models and detailed designs using CATIA V5.
• Interpret automotive body part drawings, GD&T, specifications, and engineering requirements.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and tooling teams to resolve design and production issues.
• Prepare design documentation, drawings, BOMs, and other deliverables.

We are looking for a skilled BIW Fixture Design Engineer with 2-6 years of experience in automotive fixture design and concept development. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in BIW fixture design, concept design, and CATIA V5, with a good understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly requirements, and automotive body-in-white structures. Experience with Siemens NX and 3D finish will be an added advantage.

The role involves developing robust, accurate, and manufacturable fixture solutions for BIW assembly operations while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs meet technical and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop BIW fixtures, checking fixtures, assembly fixtures, and related tooling based on product and manufacturing requirements.
• Create detailed fixture concepts considering part geometry, assembly sequence, accessibility, clamping, locating, welding, and operator ergonomics.
• Develop 3D fixture models and detailed designs using CATIA V5.
• Interpret and work with automotive body part drawings, GD&T, specifications, and engineering requirements.
• Design locating and clamping systems to ensure dimensional accuracy, repeatability, and process stability.
• Develop fixture structures, components, supports, pins, clamps, brackets, and other tooling elements.
• Ensure fixture designs are practical, cost-effective, serviceable, and suitable for manufacturing.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and tooling teams to resolve design and production-related issues.
• Incorporate design changes based on engineering feedback, trials, manufacturing requirements, and quality observations.
• Support design reviews, feasibility studies, and technical discussions with internal and cross-functional teams.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation, drawings, BOMs, and other relevant engineering deliverables.
• Follow established automotive design standards, quality procedures, and project timelines.

Must-Have Skills

• 2-6 years of relevant experience in BIW Fixture Design.
• Strong expertise in BIW fixture design and tooling concepts.
• Hands-on experience in concept design and fixture development.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5, particularly 3D modeling and assembly design.
• Good understanding of BIW manufacturing, assembly processes, locating principles, and clamping concepts.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings, GD&T, and automotive design requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and design analysis skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Siemens NX.
• Knowledge of 3D finish and related automotive design practices.
• Exposure to fixture manufacturing, tryout, installation, and validation processes.
• Understanding of welding fixtures, robotic assembly, and BIW production lines.
• Familiarity with automotive OEM and supplier design standards.

Qualifications
