Job summary

Careernet is seeking a BE/ME Mechanical or Automobile engineer to lead BIW design of structures like upper body, underbody and front end, using CAD/CATIA and 3DX for new part design and digital pre-assembly.

The role requires coordinating with CAE and manufacturing, applying GD&T, and ensuring regulatory and homologation compliance while driving cross-functional collaboration to meet cost, weight, and timing targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in BIW (Body-in-White) design of structures such as upper body, underbody and front end structure.
• Understanding manufacturing processes, tooling and stamping requirements, and assembly sequences.
• Proficiency in AL-PL layout, Master Sections, vehicle integration and packaging.
• Knowledge of regulations and homologation requirements.
• Hands-on GD&T for CAD models and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to concept development and VA/VE proposals.
• Design CAD concepts for BIW structures and closures for PV/CV.
• Define joining strategies (spot MIG welding) and attachment features.
• Ensure design compliance with BIW attributes, quality targets and program milestones.
• Coordinate with manufacturing on mass production assembly feasibility and sequencing.
• Interface with CAE to interpret results for safety, NVH, deflection and fatigue.
• Engage with mating components to meet clearances and DPA standards.
• Support engineering reviews of CAD in a timely and frequent manner.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate interfaces efficiently.
• Interpret DFMEA, DVP&R and GD&T documentation to support design reviews.

BE/ME Mechanical or Automobile Engineering

Interiors NPD_CAD/CATIA (3DX/CATIA V6/V5) & Team Center BIW sheetmetal ( Door panels Inner/Outer, Hood Panel, Qtr Trim Panel,Reinforcements, Floor Panels, Brackets, Cross members, Fender, Tailgate) new part design, on-going product development changes; digital pre-assembly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Experience in BIW (Body-in-White) Design of Structures such as Upper body, Underbody & Front End Structure & Body closures.
2. Understanding manufacturing processes, tooling and stamping requirements, and assembly sequences of BIW and Closures.
3. Relevant experience in AL-PL layout, Master Sections, Vehicle Integration, Vehicle Packaging, Concept creation and assembly processes of various parts.
4. Knowledge of relevant Regulations & Homologation requirements.
5. Good knowledge and hands-on experience of GD&T for CAD models and drawings.
6. Knowledge in WERS, GPDS & DPA 0/1 assessments in E2KS.

Skill Requirements

1. Contribute to concept development, Value Analysis Value Engineering (VA-VE) and innovative proposals.
2. Support the Design and Development of Body Engineering CAD concepts / solutions for Underbody, covering New Product Development for PV - Passenger Vehicle / CV - Commercial Vehicle.
3. Define and implement joining strategies such as SPOT welding, MIG welding, and other attachment features.
4. Ensure design compliance with BIW and vehicle attributes, technical and structural requirements, quality objectives, program milestones, deliverables and specific targets (cost, weight, timing, etc.).
5. Coordinate with the manufacturing team on mass production assembly solutions, assembly sequence, and part feasibility.
6. Interact with the CAE team and interpret results to meet all Regulatory, Safety, NVH, Deflection and Fatigue requirements.
7. Ensure proper engagement interfaces with mating components and respective clearances with surrounding components, thereby meeting DPA Standards.
8. Facilitate timely and frequent engineering review of CAD.
9. Work on cross-functional teams (Suspension, Powertrain, Manufacturing and Exterior (Upperbody / Interior) to develop efficient designs and lead the integration of interfacing components.
10. Able to interpret DFMEA, DVP&Rs and GD&T documentation to support D&R and enhance design quality.
